Smarty and Loading a Truck Camper..

First, I don't like the 'No stall' of the vp44.

If I catch the TC loading/unloading, bad things happen...
Catching a jack was even worse, would not stall, just kept pulling...

So , If I install a smarty, Is it worse, that is , is idle also affected...
with more power?

I wish there was some way to program out the 'no stall'
I know how to drive a stick shift, Just have trouble pointing it in the right direction

I think the short answer is yes. I've noticed that it fuels more agressively to maintain idle when I'm granny'ing in 1st under load, but only on the "CaTCher" SW maps (4-9). With #3 it seems to be close to or the same as stock.

Personally I love the no-stall with the manual tranny; I can detail-drive with the clutch and leave the accelerator alone. I can see how it might be a PITA with an auto.

you could (can) program out the "no stall" by flashing your ecm with an auto tranny software.

OK, so the smarty comes with programs for std and auto, or do you
need a factory reflash...

Why not just put it in 4 LO to back under the camper? It works well for me every time.

Canuck: I don't back good,,,, Really , I just don't like the Idle governor,

From the replies I got from 'Mad's' the Smarty does not affect the Idle
governor,

Sad story, was in a truck stop getting fuel, guy pulled in and partially blocked me in. I thought I had enough room to get out, unfortunatly, another truck
had hooked 1 of those concrete blocks that protect the pumps, corner was sticking out about a foot,
I caught the right front camper jack, never felt it hit and grab, the idle governor just kept pulling. No drag, no noise, just kept pulling untill I heard
the crunch of broken wood.
Yes, I know it was my fault, my wife has reminded me at least a zillion times already...

But, I still a believe that diesels should be ALL mechinicial, no stinking
electronics and computers....

Maybe a P7100 conversation in my future....
