Pro Comp Wheels 6" of backspace
Pro Comp Wheels 6" of backspace
Anyone using the Pro Comp series 112, 108 or 107 Wheel? They are all 17 x 8.5 with a 6" backspace. This is very close to our stock wheels right? Only difference is 8.5" instead of 8", right?
I want to keep the original look of the tires not sticking out the wheel wells and other than Centerline or Weld this is the closest one I was able to find. Let me know if you have these what you think of them or if I'm wrong here with my numbers.
Thanks.

Yeah that's what I thought, I almost missed them when I was scouring the internet for the right wheel. I was surprised to see them, I've been holding off on buying wheels for three years. I'm planning on adding a 4.5" Tuff Country lift and 37x1250x17 tires on these rims. With a 17x8.5 6" of bs I think that it should all fit perfect. This truck will never be off road so it is purely for my love of being in a reasonably tall truck with wheels that fit nicely into the wheel wells. I still don't know which tire I want, either BFG's, Goodyear's or ProComp's.
Still want to wait and see if anybody out there has any experience with any ProComp wheels. Do they hold up well? Is the finish still holding up?

They will fit fine...
I run 4.5" Tuff...with 37x13.5 on 8.5 w/ 5.5 BS....No problem. You might have to trim the corner off the plastic valance under the bumper....1" max...but they clear when they are stuffed up in the fenders off-road.

Hi Cquestad, don't know if you remember me we talked last year about the lift you had and wheel selection. You were very helpful in educating me about the whole BS issue. How is the lift been treating you after all this time? Are you still happy with it? I noticed that you changed your tires from BFG's to ProComp's any reason for that? What shocks are you running with that lift, you happy with them? I'm looking for a comfy ride, no off-raoding at all for me.
Thanks,
Steve

Yes...the only reason I switched tires...is I wanted to try something new. I got 78k out og my 37x12.5 BFG MT's. They are awesome tires.
I am also really happy with my PC XTA's right now too...they are a much heavier wider tire, but even more quiet! I have no idea how long they will last...but I am sure 50k is more than possible...there is a lot of tread to wear out!
I have had ZERO problems with my lift. I run Bilsteen 5100's. They are about shot I think...with over 85k on them...I may look at stepping up to Custom Kings if I find that money tree I have been looking for.

For tires, if you want all terrains I go with the Toyo Open Country ATs or the Pro Comp Xtreme AT.
Be sure to post pics when you're done. That's going to be a sweet setup!
I like those Toyo open country MT's. Didn't consider a 13.50 tire before but if Cquestad is running 4.5" Tuff...with 37x13.5 on 8.5 w/ 5.5 BS then I should be fine with the 37x13.5x17 Toyo MT's on the 17 x 8.5 w/6" of BS. They should tuck in the wells just right. It should look sweet with that little bit of more fat on the tire also.
OK big question now, where is the cheapest place to buy Toyo's and ProComp rims online? NJ is the worst place in the world to try and find any kind of 4x4 tire shops. Please post or PM me any online places that anyone might now of to find these.
Thanks,
Steve

OK so just ran into a big road block, just got off the phone with ProComp and they don't make those wheels. Centerline was supposed to make them for them but never happened, at least that is the story I got.
So here is my next question, wouldn't a 20 x 9 with 6" of BS be the same as Cquestad's 17 x 8.5 with 5.5" of BS? I'm assuming it is.
Any issues with going to a 20" rim? Toyo does make the 37x13.50x20 MT's.
Thanks,
Steve

IMO, and 8.5" wheel is too small for 37 x 13.5" wide tires. You should be looking at a 9" wheel or 10" wheel for those tires. I had BFG 315/70/17 AT on my stock 8" wheels. Those tires didn't fit properly, as they didn't ride flat. BFG recommends a minimum of 8.5" wheel, and my wheels pulled the sidewalls in a bit, and didn't allow the tire to ride completely flat. As a result, the centers of the tires wore much faster than the shoulders of the tires.

A 20x10 wheel is going to give you problems unless you add a tall lift. It just too wide and pushes everything out too far. A 20x9 is better and will work, but be sure to get that 6" backspacing.
I just confirmed it with the manufacturer, they are 20x9 with 6" backspace the math works out to the same as a 17x8.5 with 5.5" backspace so I would think it should be OK. Tough call to order them and find out that they are rubbing.
