Cool Predator Power Module

Hi,

I would like to know if anyone is using a Predator Power Module on a '03 standard output? I have one that I'm trying out right now and it seems to really increase the power. Like to know if anyone has or had problems using this?

Try doing a search for a "Predator" or "Dr. Performance" or these links https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...light=Predator

Seems to be some mixed opinion. Do you have other mods or guages? You might want to post your truck info. Have you towed anything with it?

I just put a stage 2 on mine about two weeks ago. I really like it The low and mid-range grunt is very good and I ran a short towing test and had great results. I gained about 15 mph and 1 mpg up a 5 mile 6% grade! AND the EGT's were not over the top around 1250°. It was possible to get the EGT's up a bit more, but I'm putting on a 4" exhaust to cool things down a bit.

Dr. Performance seems to have put the hurt on some people some time ago, a search will find a little bit of that, but their electronics seem to be pretty good now

Oh yeah, don't even THINK about putting on any box without the EGT gauge, My $0.02.

Hey,

Thanks for the input. I haven't decided if I'm going to buy it or not. I'm still having some problems with either a miss or trans slip. Under heavy acceleration it feels like a missfire or maybe the trans is slipping or shiftting up and down very rapidly. It does not do this all of the time just under WOT say from a stop light or very low speeds. The dealer has "Flashed " the ECM and states they can't reproduce the problem.

Do you have the 47 or the 48re? The 48 is supposed to be beefed up some. I've only done the drag race thing a couple of times, but I haven't experienced any hesitation. Right off the line she's a little sluggish, I can't just break the tires loose but at about 50' the turbo kicks in and at maybe 75' I hear the tires squeal for traction and she just rockets up to red line and through the gears is fine .

Me I have a stock 47 re, Seems to be holding up fine knock on wood. I did however just get it out of the shop, had the slip yoke and seal replaced on transfer case due to a leak. I will probly next year get a DTT tranny put in because I will do a set of injectors and a bigger turbo which I know will hose the 47 re for sure.

Mopar6,

I have been running the predator for about a year now and have the same problem with the surge with WOT between 2600 and 2900 rpm. At's not the box the guy I bought the box from gave me a new one and it did the same thing. You are probably dealing with the same dealership that I am in Auburn Ca. Mine will also set codes when I pull my 9000 lbs trailer. I am getting ready to lemon law mine. From what the dealer has told me and after taking with Predator this problem is not the box. If you get any more info please let me know and I will do the same

Hi 42Flatfender,

I've dealing with Kelly (Diesel Tech) at Magnussen's. He thought it might be the torque converter locking up and releasing. I'm going to stop by today find out where do we go from here. I sent an e-mail to Dodge and they say to continue working with the dealer. I'm not sure I can do the Lemon law because I have 24000 miles on the truck. Are you having the same problem with the A/C, blowing warn air at idle or traffic? The dealer says Dodge is aware of this and has no fix, they have "falshed" the ECM & PCM three times now with the sane results. I will let you know what I find out today.

Hi, there is a bolded out, highlighted description on the 3rd gen and 2nd gen powertrain forums that they're not for accessories, or high performance product conversations. That said, I've moved this to the appropriate forum...
