Power without a module

It seems like a module is the quickest and simplest way to get power, but I've been wondering about performance upgrades that don't mess with the trucks electronics (ECM). What kind of power can you get without a module? My guess without actually knowing would be..

intake - a few horses
exhaust - a few more horses
injectors?
tranny?
edit - forgot .. Turbo - lots of horses

Since I did want the simplest way, I just ordered a Quad race from Top (great transaction by the way and highly recommended) and a Scotty III to go along. Can't wait to install them. I'll probably end up getting the monitor later on. I guess I'm in that super kool squad now... ...

Thanks

Intake and exhaust will keep your EGT's down, don't really gain horse power, although they do keep you from wasting it with a stock intake, and exhaust

Gaser's make there power with more air, the motor gives it more fuel

Diesels need fuel, the motor will provide the air. That's why there's so many chips and why the power, the chip gives it more fuel and volla, more power easy. Turbos will help burn the fuel the motor gives. Gas and diesel are very close on how they work, but fuel is different, air, ect.

You'll love the box. For some reason the box just didn't love my truck.... Don't know why but most have had 0 problems with it.

Keep reading. Alot of performance items go hand in hand. My starting point was a new muffler, air intake then a mild module. I keep my quad either off or on the 30 HP settings. Since I use my mustang as my racer I'm not so inclined to beat up on my truck. So far since adding the module at around half a tank. I've been able to get 625miles out of my tank full, Usually I'd have to take some sore of trip before going over 600miles per tank. So the next tank should be even better.

thanks for the advise... I'm gonna take Dzilla advise and keep her mostly stock... really..

I'm planning to take it easy until I get "The Commander by Quadzilla" installed. It's all about control.

It's good to know about the gasser/diesel difference. Thanks TAS..

HP mods w/out boxes or dl

Here's a few options. Recently the guys working on the CP3 mods have come up with caps for the Hp valve. If you do just the caps they say you'll get 3kpsi boost to the rail. That's like a VAc3.1!! There is always air intake and exhaust mods. You can get more timing with the tone ring and last but not least,...and probably should be your 1st mod if you've got an auto is to spend the best money you can spend on your rig and get a tranny from any of the big three. The above mods all together would be pushing 80hp to 100hp to the rear wheels and you haven't messed with boxes or DLers. Bomb away!!!!

Do a search on "Tone ring mod" or "Rokktech sensor". Both of these add timing and will give you better throttle response and better mileage. The tone ring mod is free and getting a gain you can actually feel from a free mod is awesome. The Rokktech only costs a few bucks so it's still a good choice. The drawback is that the timing is always there so when it's really cold out you may get some timing rattle. With my TST box it was too much so I had to return my tone ring back to it's original location.....
