Possible bad noise with Smarty TNT
Possible bad noise with Smarty TNT
Hey guys I just got my smarty tnt in today and loaded up sw 1 since my truck is almost stock. Mind you the gauges in my sig arent hooked up yet so I can tell you what they ar eaingbut I'm stacked with a diablo power puck and upon hard acceleration I'm hearing a popping noise I think from the exhaust nothing constant just one or two on WOT. What could it be and what do I need first. I'm looking into an AirDog thinking the 100 but maybe the 150 since its only $10 more but since my fuel system is stock how hard is it to install and do I have an in tank pump or just the standard lift pump. Thanks in advance
lets see, the popping you hear is the rail pressure dropping and the cylinders not firing. STOP RUNNING IT WITHOUT GAUGES.
you have a stock lift pump, stock cp3, NO gauges, and are stacking TNT with a power puck, with a stock turbo? Its not the smarty making the noise, ITS YOU.
seriously dude. you are asking for major engine damage. now that i have flamed you, we shall move on.
2004 had a filter mounted lift pump. small black canister mounted vertically on the back of the fuel filter. if it isnt there, your truck has been retro'd to an intank pump.
get the airdog or fass, (if intank you will also need a drawstraw)
get the gauges hooked up. you will find that your egt's are completely unacceptable, stop doing it....

I agree with the above. Gotta do the supporting mods first...
I did an AD 150 install this weekend. Not hard at all. I lifted the bed instead of dropping the tank, it was a lot easier to me. (I dropped the tank on my walbro install)
If you want any pointers on the AD install (if you get it) PM me... I'll share the wealth...

Marshall, even my truck popped on sw1, there are some TNT issues on the 03-04 that are gonna be taken care of next month according to Bob. You should download the regular revo and use a lower level like 3 or 5. The TNT on sw1 will ask too much of your truck right now.
