PoD disappointment

Ok, I've had my Smarty Jr. for about a year and loved it up until now. I just downloaded the new software and it doesn't work on my truck at all. I can take away power by adjusting the PoD, but my truck basically doesn't respond to any other aspect of the new software. I can't tell any real difference between SW3 and SW1. I was trying to be optimistic in the beginning by fooling myself into thinking that I COULD tell a difference, but I realized this morning I could not.

Is there any way now, or possibly in the future to go back to the old software? My Jr. went from being a GREAT piece of equipment to being worthless.

Something must be wrong, set your truck back to stock, then load whichever program you want. My POD works OK; on #3 with POD “00” I can’t get the truck over 2K RPMs in 2nd gear. Punch it up to 99 and I can break the tires loose in 3rd.

I"ll try that tomorrow. I've been reading through these threads since I downloaded the new software, and my truck seems to be responding differently then everyone else's to the different settings. People are driving around with the PoD on 50, but my truck wouldn't get out of it's own way at 50.

From what I’ve read the auto trucks respond different form the stick trucks. I guess the shift points get changed so much by the POD that the lower settings are magnified since the trans won’t up shift.

I’m running SW#3 with POD 65. ( I think I did TM #2 and TQ#3) I don’t think I’d de-power the truck too much for things could get harry in traffic.

I've noticed this with my SR. I can run sw3 @ 99% and it feels great. When I run sw9 @ 40% which should be around the same HP rating it feels like a complete dog. That's why I'm not to impressed with the POD feature. I like the Smarty, just not impressed with the way POD is supposed to work. Now I thought this was just how it was, but is it a known issue?

Yeah 40 is a dog, but I'm finding better practicality out of 55-60. Maybe a .25mpg difference in my experience so far.

Not sure if this is a known issue or not, but that's why I started this thread. It seems to me that most of the people who are impressed with the PoD are manual transmission owners. I think the PoD is a great idea, even if it is somewhat less useful on automatics.

My main issue is that I have lost the added power that I became so accustom to. I REALLY hope at some point I can get the power back, otherwise the Smarty is worthless to me outside of making buddies laugh by putting the PoD on 50 and trying to drive around in 3rd gear.

I will take the advice of the guy who said I need to go back to stock and then reload the program. If that doesn't help and I can't get the old software back then the Smarty is going in the trash (or Ebay).

I can't drive at 40% either, my tranny won't even shift, aftermarket trannies seem to work worse than stock autos. 50% to 99% everything works great on mine, how's yours at say 65-70%? This is where my mileage and tranny shifting really starts to shine, then when I want ***** to the wall power, I jump up to 99%. I do have the S-06, but the PoD should work the same.

Mine shifts ok in that range, but I really can't tell any difference in power whether I'm running SW3 at 99% or SW1 at 90%. Basically the only thing I think my Jr. is doing now is detuning my truck from stock. I don't feel ANY extra power no matter what setting I put it on.

This is a dumb question, but did you send it in to get the hardware upgraded first? or just download the software to your original jr?

The percentages are for total power not the percent of added power. So 40% of your total power on SW9 would be a little less than 200hp to the rear wheels. That's why it's a dog.

I think you are right about the POD and manual trucks, because my truck is a freakin beast now. The low end is truely amazing, then set it pod to 0 and you cant get the truck to move LOL. Contact Bob Wagner and he will e-mail you the old software if you are not satisfied, 1-888-225-7637.
