Please provide input is 400-425 HP enough?

I know to some this might seem like a dumb question, but I have to ask. Who's running in the 400 - 425 HP at rear wheel? How do you like it? Is it enough? My situation is; I have recently dumped a bunch of money in my truck and am now having a new clutch installed (went out on me recently). I have the mods below, I figure I have all the requirements for safe 400-425 HP range. My questions are; I found a Super B for a good deal, should I get it and a smarty JR (should put me at 400ish range at RW)? I want this truck to last but don't want to put much more into it. Of course my dream would be to have twins, but realistically that is not going to happen. So I am thinking SB CON OFE, and the super B then maybe smarty jr down the road. Let me know if you guys are running similar and if it's good power. I tow a fair bit with 10K - 15K, but mostly run the truck empty, would like more towing power and more pedal fun. But, where I am having a hard time deciding is; am I wasting money by not getting a Dual Disc clutch, and by buying the super B? Thanks for the help.

having that much power is never enough, i really don't think anyone that is actually modding there trucks can actually say the power they have is enough. I am at 455hp and that is no where near enough. I shooting for 650 by the end of the year, i say that will be enough but i know inside it won't.

I'm guessing i'm around 425ish (dont have arson or turbo installed yet)....and i think it's great daily driver and for as little as i tow, it does perfect.....you don't need more...you'll want more, and if you have the $'s to spend on it, you will....but i dont think it's necessary.....i'm only planning on 550hp end game as i dont want the reliability concern at power levels above that.

I'm not an 03 expert, but i believe you could use a stock turbo off of an 04.5+ truck and support 425hp...save some money! Otherwise, for that power level, lots of people have said they really like the super b.....in either event, both could lead to twins...(MPI Stocker/S400 or BD Twins)

I'm in that range running the stock turbo and clutch. But I do drop down the power when towing to save both the turbo and clutch. Personally I think 400hp is plenty for a daily driver so with the SB Con OFE and the Super B you will have plenty of margin.

With my mods I dyno'd 443 in May, since then I've changed the clutch to an OFE (no regrets there) and taken care of my fuel pressure with the AD100.
I'm happy but would like to add a pressure box just to get to 500 HP.
That will be it for me, I've got fishing stuff to get and work to do on the house, no dual turbos, CP3's or anything else for me. I tow with the TD set on "performance" and have had no problems with any hills I travel in the interior of BC.

It's up to the individual person though, some people are happy with the stock power, some want 700 HP, no one can tell you how far to take it.

Funny thing is the HP addiction is like a crack addict. You can't get enough. Once you start, control is out the window....LOL You will always want one more piece of hardware. " If I can get this one last thing I will be done"...... Yeah Right!!!!!

Hey Fisherguy shouldn't you be tying Chronimids LOL
Hopefully this year wont winter kill to harsh.
Seriously though how heavy a load have you tugged up thru the snowshed with the BD on kill? I have to pull a 30 footer up to Kamloops in May and wondered what to load the Smarty at ( I was thinking of sw5 but) ? I have the Dr. P also but doubt the temps will allow for that?

I know what you mean by wanting more power when towing. Turning onto a busy service road, entering a highway, trying to change lanes just to mention a few. The power you need is not max horse power but low end torque, cooler egt's, less turbo lag when you push the skinny pedal and if something will give you better milage thats a bonus.

My first chip was an XZT. It gave me the low end I was looking for but it did not help EGT or my milage.

My second is a programer the Smarty which I bought used from an established member on this site. The Smarty has so many options it is like a kid in a candy store which makes getting the right power for your needs a little harder. It is the search for that right recipe that is so much fun. Lots of guys here to give you some pointers.

My first chip was an XZT, & it was good...For a while, then a Smarty Jr., & it was better. Then stacked with the quad, & that was good too. Now the truck in my sig is done, & I'm estimating I'm at, or real close to 500/1000, & for me, thats enough. Where I live it rains a lot, & I'm constantly having to watch out when I get on it, or I'll fry the tires.
BTW, the look on the face of the granola crunching tree hugger in a subaru full of REI stuff, that I passed going up an 8% grade with my slide in on the back was priceless!!!

My trailer's a 23 ft'r, dry weight 4111 pounds, but I've towed it with water and another 50 gallons in the back of the truck, plus 2 boats with all that gear.
Should be trying flies yah but doing a lotta work around the house painting etc. You neear Vancouver too?

It seems from the other posts that having more HP is debateable, it really depends on what you use your truck for. Daily driver, drag racing, towing, all have different needs, build the truck to the best you can to fit your needs. The Super B is a good turbo, quick spool up, and for 8 bones you can't go wrong.
