Please help! Dually with Toyo's
Please help! Dually with Toyo's
Today when I was on here I came accross a DRW with 285 70 17 toyo AT's and found a really nice looking truck. And now after about 3 hours of searching
I can not come up with that truck. So if I may ask if any of you out there have toyo OC AT's 285 70 17 on stock wheels could you please post a picture. Thanks for the help!
I am wanting to (actually ordered) 285 70 17 ATs that will be here friday so I was just wanting to look at that pic again.
Thanks much!

Better get a spacer for the rear.I ran Nitto 285's for about week.Didn't like the way they walked on the road so I sold them.I ran an Arrowcraft 1.5" spacer.Should have gotten the toyo's but tried saving a few dollars,oh well.
Heres a pic of the Nitto's

Yeah, felt like I had to work the wheel to keep it straight. It wasn't terrible but enough to irritate me.It also liked to follow the grooves in the road from the big rigs.I really think it was more the tire than the size.I ran some tall slim Nitto's on a 3500 SRW and had the same wandering.Should have learned my lesson and went with Toyo's or something else.
Thanks
I run a 1/4" spacer on the very inside and a 1.5" spacer in between the duals. All the lights except for the cab lights, I painted. The tail lights are done with a Colorbond tail light paint.

The 1/4" is so you don't have to cut the studs.I ran the same set up(thanks Armstrong for the input months ago) with 1 1/2" spacers..Put the 1/4" on first, then the inner wheel, then the 1 1/2" spacer and then the outer wheel.I did have to grind about a 1/16" of each factory stud.,but theres enough end on them that it didn't grind on the threads.
You have to keep your stock lug nuts on the outside for your center-caps to work. Some spacers use a different lug nut and the center-cap wont grab onto them.
MikeT: How do you like do you like those Toyo M/ts?
Homewrecker: I am glad everything worked out for you man.
RRC: With the 2" spacers your truck will really only be 1/2" wider then running the 1/4" and 1 1/2" that's not too bad. I would have gone 2" if I didn't get such a deal on the ones I have.

Got my tires mounted up last night on the truck and then went to my first pull with the new motor and tires!
First thing is I love the look of these 285's, they make the truck look so much beefer. The front wheel wells actually look filled up a bit, I don't run a leveling kit in the front, but I like the rake of the stock height.
The only thing I am running is a 1/4" spacer between the duals, it gives me a little less the 3/4" between the side walls, which for me will work. I'm not usually pulling heavy loads so side wall flex is not to much of an issue for me. I'm mainly going to be using these tires for sled pulling. If I was going to do a lot of hauling I'd probably go with something else.
Being that it was my first pull out I left the tires plenty hard, (not sure how they would bite). And I was really happy with the way they hooked up, this is quite a bit more tire on the ground than the 235's.
So I want to say THANKS to all of the people that have been down this road looking for tires and that have done the work finding out what sizes work and don't! I am glad that I went with the 285's over the 265's (or the 235's) for the taller tire, they look so much better.
Thanks,
Dustin
