PIAA 5432 Fog Light Replacement kit install ...

Well, both of my fog lights are shattered now. I only have 24K miles on the truck and all my previous cars have had fogs and never had to replace. I guess it is the height it sits at. Actually, the first one had a melted puddle of plastic in it so dont know if it just melted (atleast one other person has mentioned this occurs if turned on too long not moving).

Anyways, I am considering the PIAA 5432 fog light replacement kit that is designed for OEM replacement. Anyone installed this yet and know what is involved ???

I think it is just mounting them and probably need to run the included relay to battery (which one ???) as I assume they draw more juice the OEM. Am a little confused about the switch that is included in the package ... hoping it is not used and that the factory dash switch works. Can anyone verify and give details on the install ???

Hey TW,from my experience PIAA makes a very good product. But it also comes with a good price tag$$.I had bought a set of 910`s for my 96ram and a lens got shattered some time later. It was $90.C$ to replace, because it was the lens and bezel.Since then I changed trucks and I installed these lights into my 03ram well again I had a lens break so off to get replacement lens and bezel.
The original fog lights that came in the 03,I had one get broke also and my dealer wanted something like 175.C$ for the replacement.Wasn`t impressed.Later my parts guy told me that a light from a Chrysler Sebring would fit and it cost only 45.C$ go figure Eh!Just snap the truck light out of the bracket and same for the Sebring then inner change them. Now that worked for my 03,just not sure for other years.Another option if you don`t mined non factory look is to look at Light Force they do take one HECK of a beating.I`m thinking of going that way the next time.Good Luck with your decision and hope this helps.
PS:maybe check out what replacement parts cost before deciding.

WARNING: The kit is advertised on multiple sites (including PIAA) as coming with the protective plastic covers. It does not !!! It is not part of the included items in the instructions so I know they are not simply missing. I think this is just an oversight by PIAA as they probably come with the lights alone but when you get the kit I assume they dont fit with the included bezel and thus are not included. I am returning mine as I wanted the protection of the covers to reduce chances of rocks busting the lens (was going to combine with Stongard/3M film) ... I have already broken 3 fog lights in less than a year.

They also typically show the lights as a blue color and this is a little misleading as they are only blue when turned on (it has a blue bulb). When off it has a standard silver reflector so they dont have a blue'ish tint when off if you were interested in it for "looks".

Melted puddle of plastic? If your lenses are plastic then they are not stock. My 05 came with glass lenses.

I'm running Hella 80w replacement bulbs guaranteed to create more heat than the 28w stockers without any problems (day and night useage).

As I live and drive in serious Tule fog it was one of the first Mods I made. I have well over 30k miles on them now without a problem.

Those that I know with the Piaa's, (we've compared), wish they had gone with the stockers because of the ridiculous price tag of the Piaa's and cheaper brighter 80w Hella replacement bulbs that I put in my stock fog lights.

My advice is replace your lenses with glass ones and get the Hella replacement bulbs. $35.00 for the bulbs alone.

Thanks for the info on the 80W'ers. I originally replaced the stockers with some of the eBay Projector halo fog lights, which are kinda cool but dont think they put out as much light as the stockers (even though they are 50W'ers too). They do project out wider than stockers so I am still happy with them. Already broke one of these (they are glass) within three weeks after installing them. I dont know if I just have bad luck or what as it has been highway rocks killing them and I dont tailgate big rigs ... maybe I should as whatever I am doing now aint working . So, thats why I ordered the PIAA's but now returning them since no mesh cover and got a second set of the eBay Halo's on order. This time will wrap them with the Xpel (same as Stongard and other 3M covers) and might also see if they hold up with 80Wers in them as they should with the much better metal housing they have, etc. compared to stock. Any part number handy for those 80W'er bulbs ???

I'll have to do some digging for the numbers and vendor...........stand by.

HB4 9006 12v 80w

Part No. H83170092

I believe I got them from Hella.com but I'd check around for the best price.

FYI: I remember now Summit Racing is where I got them.

I purchased a set of H83175122 80/100w 9007 head light bulbs at the same time.

As mentioned earlier, I did order the eBay Halo projector lights (price was also down to $99 this time around ). But, also took the info on 80w's and ordered some for the eBay Halos. They are the H7 bulb so very hard to find. Went with NOK8016-Nokya Magnum Cosmic White H7 5000K Twin Pack Auto Headlight Light Bulbs: $39.95 from eautoworks.com. These have the white/blueish hue light and I think look even better with the blue LED halo lights.

Also put some Xpel film to hopefully solve my cracked lens issues (3M product like the others). Not the easiest stuff to ut on but once it is heated was able to get it to work but not the best looking job so bought extra if I want to redo it.
