That pesky P0299 code!!!!!

This Low Boost code seems to be fairly common on trucks with larger turbos combined with downloaders. I never had this issue before loading the Predator but it seems that guys with all downloaders are getting this. It puts the truck into limp mode and you have to clear it before the truck will go back to normal. Bob W says it's got something to do with adding a larger turbo and has nothing to do with the Downloader but it doesn't seem to happen until you add the DL. I have contacted HTT to see what they have to say and I am awaiting their response. The Diablosport guys have never seen this before either.
I've done a search and it seems there is no fix for this yet other than shutting the truck off and clearing the code. Mine has started doing this almost everyday and it seems it is always after I have put some highway miles on the truck. It doesn't do it while I'm driving it but it always seems to happen after the highway miles and then shutting the truck down. When I go to restart the truck I get a CEL along with that code. The truck will drive but it makes no more than 10-15psi of boost.
So, has anyone found a way to keep this from happening? I have pulled the Predator off the truck for now and am hoping someone has some insight on this...

is it just a resistor that you plug in to fool the ECM signal??
if so I wounder if that signal STILL needs to change/vary it's reading or it will freak the ECM out and throw the code???

The strange thing is that it doesn't do it all the time...

it might take a certain amount of drive cycles to set it off, and maybe you don't do it every time you drive???
I just throwing stuff out there.
is it just a resistor plug in the end of the plug?

I just put a resistor inline in the plug that went to the stock turbo and MAP sensor. It appears to be working fine.
I appreciate the input.

This is the message I got back from HTT...

That code comes up with all downloader's since they are not an on board interface module like the Edge or TST that plug into the map sensor and read all the parameters of the motor, the 0299 code is a recent code on the late 06 and 07 trucks that a boost fooler on the map sensor doesn't seem to help 100% of the time but we do know the on board box's have not had the problem like the downloader's have.

I wonder if stacking a Quad, or another module into the map sensor to modify the readings would solve the problem. I don't know if it has been showing up with the guys that have stacked a module with their programmers.

I have a DiabloSport Puck and a Quadzilla boost fooler both plugged into the MAP sensor. The Puck does not boost fool.
I was thinking about switching the two around and seeing if it makes a difference. I can't remember for sure but I don't think I had this issue until after installing the Boost fooler. Heck, I'm not even sure I need the boost fooler since I'm running the bigger turbo and have the resistor in the plug that goes to the MAP sensor....

Thanks Dan but there are guys running Smarties having the same issues. Apparently it's only 06s and 07s that are affected. Plus if I try that Smarty and I like it I'll have to buy one. I'm trying to be done!!!!

cant they just write a software program upgrade to allow low boost without a code being set??
sounds easy enough

It sounds easy enough doesn't it?!?!

I may reload the Predator and switch which plug is in the MAP first. I think I have the boost fooler in first right now and then the Puck plugged into it....

Well, I think the boost fooler may be the culprit. I got the CEL and code again this morning and the Predator was pulled off a couple days ago. I put the Quadzilla Boost Fooler on at about the same time as the predator and that's when my issues started. I only assumed that it was somehow caused by the predator because that's what I had read on this and other sites. I now think that the Boost fooler is bad or some of the signals it is sending out are screwing w/ my truck's computer. I pulled the fooler off for now and we'll see if the problem goes away. I hope so. I can't stand not having my Predator on the truck......
One way or another, though, I have to have some kind of boost fooling to get the most out of this turbo. I may have to get an EZ box to replace the Puck if this is indeed the problem......
