performance for sled pulling
Hey guys just got a 03 3500 dully six speed with flat bed. I pulled my stuff and family from az to sc. I got an intake on her and six inch pipes and edge box air dog 150 a jake brake and am told it has a 05 turbo in it it's not original motor the truck it's self has 300 something K on it and 100 something K on this motor it's been cross country three times. I'm wanting to put more money into it to build it up for sled pulling and also a daily driver and side job for towing company I want to start. I was thinking a set of track or ladder bars intake horn and a air intake plunum. And then when I get some more money injectors cp3 pump and turbo I'm working around a grand of money right now at this point. What's up guys thought. And no I never had pulled sleds be for had diesels for a while all cummins except my first that was a power choke
Few things, and I'm not sure if you have pulled or how experienced you are with it. You have to figure out the rules, and classes you want to pull in. That will tell you the level of modification you are allowed to run, this becomes very critical in turbo size. So step one find out what class you want to run and what you can do. Then as I'm sure you are aware that is a sport that's hard on components so overbuild, keep a stack of cash aside for mishaps, and lastly have fun and good luck.
With what you have already your gonna need to address the clutch before any more performance mods. Intake horn and plenum are mods for much later once you have your basis covered and really don't do much on a stockish truck anyway.

Like Rye said you first need to find out what class you want and what mods are allowed. After that, if you only have a grand to spend you may want to wait! After the first drive line or engine issue you will be done.
No a grand right now spare to play with I'm not going to be pulling for at least a year or almost I'm in military and just moved and got to go bck to school and what not so right now I'm trying to build the truck up a little more be for I no were I can pull at and like I said trying to set up a towing business as well so doing towing here and there with the truck as well
If you are planning on using your truck in a towing business then forget about setting it up for sled pulling...you will need a dependable truck to make a living with and a sled puller isn't the way you need to go to achieve that end.
Those two things are at opposite ends of the spectrum and you will only experience grief and lose customers when your truck sits idle for weeks at a time because you broke something.
Build up your business and buy you a used truck you can build up as a toy later on

There are so many different options out there. You will REALLY need to know what your end goal is first before people here can make good suggestions. If all you want is some extra power and keep drive-ability you can go with a Smarty Jr. If you know you will want to turn up the power and also install the supporting mods you can get a Smarty Sr and then empty every pocket!!
But like I said your end goal is most important. Saying you want a sled puller, a daily driver, and occasional tow truck are 3 different goals. Not to say you cant have all 3 but you will not have the best of all 3 at the same time.
