Banks is the company that is offering that. It is a standard PDA (don't remeber if it is Palm or PocketPC), I don't know why you couldn't put a street map program on it as well. The only problem, is I think you have to buy the PDA from them. In other words, if you already have one, I don't think you can get the software and put it on yours. I believe you can control the level of performance you want out of the engine with the PDA as well. That is a bit scary to me, as I have owned both a Palm and a PocketPC and wouldn't trust EITHER one hooked up to a box that could control engine parameters (just my .02c).

PS: Thanks for your service.

I think the PDA monitoring was Banks - I dont know if it is out yet - I do know that it is designed to work only with their system but, this is a good idea that I think may become more prevelant in the future - I dont see any reason why you couldnt have both the monitoring program and a street map program on the same pda, the pda is just a small computer like your home computer so think of it as like you have a street map program and microsoft word on your home computer at the same time. I have a pda with a navigation program in my truck and am just waiting for some sort of monitoring program to come out
Hope this helps, Jason

Cummins also offers similar software for a hand held PDA/laptop.

If it is just information monitoring your interested in, most everyone that offers a PC based scan tool also offers it in a PDA version. Look to spend around $250 for general OBD2 support. The most notable that come to mind are:

http://www.autoenginuity.com/ (cheapest)
http://www.obd2.com/

There are others out there as well.

I want the laptop version myself, but am waiting for the Chrysler CAN support with extended sensor list for the Dodge Cummins equipped vehicles…..and have been for over a year now. These guys are slow. So far, no one has it so you will be somewhat limited on what you can see with generic OBD2 information. If anyone knows of a company that offers Chrysler CAN support with the Cummins extended sensor list, please let me know!

.....and the Cummins version: http://quickcheck.cummins.com/, although it specifically says "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DODGE APPLICATIONS." It is too expensive anyway.

AK RAM...

I followed your link, and it seems like it is saying you just need a different adapter?

to quote from the compatability link found at: http://www.powerstore.cummins.com/electronics.html

"The Inline I Datalink Adapter and Cables offered on this site work with all Cummins electronically controlled engines produced since 1990 with the exception of the QST30 and the Dodge Ram pickup truck. Both of these applications require an Inline II Datalink Adapter available at your local authorized Cummins distributor or dealer."

Perhaps there is hope, if you have the $change$?!

FYI - Mark

it is true that the data link can be read on the 2002 and older engines as can the road relay work on those... but on the 03 and newer, daimlerchrysler has locked the canbus with some sort of propriority coding that will not let other devices get full readings and access to the ecm

as for the pda based controller, i believe i remember seeing in the diesel power mag, a company called sniper tuning that had a pda based tuner box with read out on it... i can't remember if it was brand it was for though.
