I posted this in the help section, but I want to post it here too. My truck has the code P1740. I haven't found a clear explanation for it. It has something to do with the tranny or tc, right? I put in a Goerend complete tranny about 1200 miles ago. the code was thrown about 4 days ago. I've noticed a slight shudder in the transmission under light to moderate acceleration from 3rd to 4th and OD? It's driving me nuts? I need a clear definition. The truck and mods are in my sig.

 

I had this fault code in my old 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 2500 4x4.

It was not pretty.

I also had the slight shudder and OD was jumping in and out.

Thankfully, I had the powertrain warranty.

Dealer's parts and labor was around $1700.00. I just had to fork out $100.00 for the warrany deductible.

They removed the tranny from the truck and replaced the following:
-Valve Body Pressure Boost Cover Plate (warped)
-Valve Body
-Input Shaft Front Pump/Pump assembly
-Torque Convertor
-Bunch of new gaskets/seals
-New ATF (system flush)
-Trans Filter

 

dang......I know Dave (Goerend) will take care of anything wrong with the tranny. His customer service and warranty is one of the best!! What will cause the code (or damage in the tranny)? Like I said, I have about 1200 miles on the tranny.

 

Call Dave, he WILL do you right!

 

Yeah, Dave is a great guy to do business with! I'll never run any transmission again except his!
