What are most guys using for specs on orings for the head? I have only been doing fire rings and gonna oring one and need to know what to make the groove and wire.

I normally use a .041 stainless steel semi hard wire (I like BHJ wire). The groove is cut .039 with .010-.012 protrusion. You can also go with .051 wire and use a .049 groove, same protrusion amount.

I am wondering the same thing. I thought studs and stock head gaskets worked great even in the big HP trucks.

The MLS gasket works very well for most...... But sometimes it just isn't the solution. That said a good o-ring job can be the answer.

Are you using the oldr 24 gaskets or the MLS gaskets with the orings? This wants this truck to be able to hold up to 1k hp down the road but probly wont be that for awhile thats why i am opting for the orings for him instead of fire rings and IMO stock MLS isnt gonna be enough even with stud, but I could be wrong.

I am running 041 wire in both my trucks. 013 pro. on the 04 and .011 on the 06. The wire is a little harder than what Doug recommends but they are both holding fine. MLS has not worked on my trucks. Tim

My grooves are .039" wide. We start them with a lead mallet then push them the rest of the way with a aluminum torque plate. My wire is inconel. Tim
