My 06 has 205k on it,all towing miles.I put in 12 qt oil and 4000 miles later ,it is almost at the add mark.What might be causing this? would wore injectors be a possability?

 

Did you check the oil at fill? You should never fill an engine just by what the manual says it takes...

 

Is the underside of your truck wet with oil film?

On my truck, when I turn up the power, I get more oil vapor exiting the valve cover/crank case vent. Enough vapor to eat a quart or two every 4K miles.

 

It has some dampness ,where the blow by comes out, but it doesnt drip like my 01 did

 

Probably not the injectors as usually a problem with them puts diesel fuel into your sump causing an apparent "overfill" scenario. I think you found it with the vent tube from the engine. Another consideration is 205K on the engine. Are there any leaks on the motor or oil around the bell-housing or transmission?

 

No lleaks ,it doesnt drip a bit

 

That's not that bad....working my truck hard, and with the highway speed being so high where I am I have found I used more than I would have liked. I used to run Group III synthetic oils and dino, but when I went to Amsoil AME the usage dropped right off...that's all I will use now. Makes sense, as the NOACK (volatility) is much lower with the Amsoil.
