The stock guage is basically an idiot light. It does not represent actual pressure at all.

 

I have a mechanical guage in the cab and it shows ~20 psi hot idle. The highest I see is ~95 psi @ ~2000 rpm in the winter the first start of the day when first driving off. Interstate cruise, hot engine ~65 psi.

Before the mechanical guage I've had electrical oil pressure gauges and the senders never lasted more than a month or so. The mechanical gauge has been in the cab for about 1.5 years and uses -3AN stainless steel braided line tapped off the top of the oil filter head.

 

it does not...it is a three step sensor...

A "real" gauge is going under the hood...warning lamp in the dash.
