Ohh Quad

Could you give me a list of what and a relative degree to how you get the power for 30-60-100- and the 140 (also what torque is 140)?

Just to give you an idea, roughly.....

30 hp = 15hp timing 15hp rail and fuel stretch combined

60hp 15hp timing 30hp rail pressure 15hp fuel stretch

100hp 20hp timing 45hp rail pressure 35hp fuel stretch

130hp 20hp timing 70hp rail pressure 40hp fuel stretch

Roughly..........with 6 degrees timing max about 20hp is the top limit you can get. You can get up to 40-50hp with timing at 14-16 degrees if you have enough fuel. You would not see that with timing only.

Thanks Quad, I may have a few more questions about it when I am a little more awake.

OK, since we are on the topic: What sort of differences can be expected with the Quad Race and a 2-3° increase in timing, say from the "tone ring mod"? I modded my ring a while ago and it is still advanced. Am I hurting power, or adding some?

I know that when it's cold out you will not like the knocking you will hear from the timing!!! I had to put my ring back to the stock location in order to run the Quad box...

I heard this was only a problem on the 03-04 motors, and NOT with the 04.5-05 CTD 600s? But I could be wrong....

I'm not sure about that. You will know if it's too much timing....

I heard something about the 100hp setting on the standard being a little different than the Race box?
When I was there I saw your Megacab had an analog pyrometer, is that a backup or what?

The Roktech sensor will basically add about 2 degrees on top of what we do. The problem with the Roktech is that it does it idle and at any boost level. That is where the extra noise comes from. It is not really bad noise, but these new trucks are so quiet you here any additional noise!

The extra pyro in my truck is simply for testing. I am not sure what I had in there at the time, but I have pretty much had all of them in there at one time or another.

When we made the Commander we wanted to make sure that our sweep rates on the screens were readable. We also tested the affects of running 2 gauges with a single thermocouple. Then we tested the reaction of the analog versus the digital.

There is no telling what you might see on my personal trucks. If you popped the hood it might scare you! It looks like we tried to re-wire the entire truck!

I wished I would have known when you were going to be here and I would have made it a point to meet you. I wonder where I was anyhow?

I remember posting that I would be there. Stan and a few others put my Commander on. It was mid April when I was there. When do expect to have your dyno setup?

Well we are supposed to have our "final" meeting with the city the first of next week. We are ready to go, but there are some extremely goofy issues we are working on.

In our city we will be under the square footage requirement on an addition to require a sprinkler system, but because of the dollar value of the added facility we fall in a different category and they are trying to make us go in and sprinkler the whole building!!!! That ain't gonna happen.

I have been assured we will be able to come up with some solution and get started. Once we get the ok and submit the blueprints back to the city I would expect it to be 60 days or so?

For now we use our off site location for dyno purposes, but it is a PITA!!!

What does it usually cost for a dyno run (or 3)? I have already emailed Stan about this, but lets see which one I get a quicker response on. I feel like I have hijacked my own thread.

Well, I really don't know because we don't typically "sell" dyno pulls to the public?

I am sure we can work something out though! Let me get it here at the new location first!
