I don't really see it as that big a deal. The overall power of the new tune probably won't be much more than the current #9 stacked with a pressure box. The stocker-based twin setups have no problem keeping up with that stack.
While that may/may not be true, we are not simply discussing power-- 5-600 hp is 5-600 hp at any RPM... the problem to keep in mind is exhaust airflow! At every single rpm the engine has 360ci of displacement of air to move. As we go up in rpm and power, that amount of air goes up much more than simple displacement at an exponential rate due to boost levels (cramming more air in)and expanding exhaust gases. Our CTD's were designed for a certain mount of airflow and is most efficient between 1700-2300 rpms. At 4000rpms, you are looking at an exhaust airflow that is much, much more than a simple doubling of rpms. The corresponding drive pressure could go through the roof! And even if drilling between the EH divider helps to equalize the pressure between cylinder banks (1-3 vs 4-6), you are now left trying to cram 2x as much flow through one wastegate designed for a much smaller airflow requirement.
Having said all that... there is the corresponding pressure on the compressor side to keep up and in improperly/under wastegated turbo set-ups, this could lead to overspeed situations and failed turbos.

Makes sense if you're talking about running significantly higher RPM's. For those who don't choose the 4k RPM option it won't be a problem though.

You have to remember that most of us currently running the Smarty are seeing 3400-3500 RPM's between shifts. The 4k option is really only about 500-600 RPM higher than what we see now. I'm not saying it won't cause DP issues for some of us...I guess all we can do is wait and see.

Maybe Nathan has some insight for us?

You know, Omaharam ran the TNT with just an Aurora 3K... and that is unwastegated and he made 648 I think. I can't imagine what his drive pressures and air temps were.

You are correct about the 3400-3500 on the smarty now, that is what I see as well... I just imagine there are many of us where that is the threshold or maybe even already over a little.

You are also correct: "We'll see!" I can't wait myself!

No, this has been a little while now. I may have reached a little calling it the TNT tune he used, but what he got to try was the early development of that tune before it was called such...at least that is what I was infomed of. It was certainly more wicked than the beta tunes!
