Question Off road lights installed

I attempted to put lights on my truck today. After hours of trying to figure it out, I gave up. The lights are self grounded. I ran a hot wire to the switch to a 30 fuse then to the battery. Nothing. Then I did away with the fuse nothing. Took one light off and just hooked one wire on the positive post and other side of the light to the negative, nothing. Thought it was the lights then. Just to make sure it was a faulty light, I tried it on the battery of our Polaris Ranger and it worked. I was then positive the ground was no count. I then rewired the light with my own ground wire and still nothing. The only thing I can think of is maybe installing a resistor before the battery. If anyone can help me solve my dilemma, I will be a lot happier. Thanks.

If your Polaris is 12 volt and the truck is 12 volt, there is no reason why it would work on one and not the other.

Not sure what you mean by self grounded except that there is no actual wire? If so it still needs to be mounted on a grounded surface. Did you try to hook the + wire to the battery and an additional - wire to the base of the light to the battery?

I didn't try that. There was a ground wire inside the light bulb but I disconnected it and grounded it to the frame. When I checked the light on the truck battery I didn't connect the bulb to the positive and negative like I did on the ranger. This could be the problem but I ran out of daylight and had a storm coming.
