NOS and Boost PSI???

OK Ive got the mods below, and Im trying to decide if I will need anything else to run NOS safer.

My question is:

Im already encroaching on the edge of having too much boost for my stock studs and head gasket, will the addition of a 75hp shot of nitrous have any effect on the boost psi that will blow my head gasket? Any other potential problems you guys might see I would like to know in advance?

Also, where are you guys tapping the NOS into, the intake manifold I know for sure, but are there other places? And can you tap your stock intake manifold instead of buying an ATS or similiar?

Thanks!!!

Kevin, you'd be fine with a modest shot of nitrous like that, although it'd be better to sneak up on it, pill-wise, with just enough to clear the amount smoke you can want to... but "50 HP" equivalent shot is much more in the safe zone.

Injecting pre-CAC is more efficient than into the intake horn, which does have a couple of bung-bosses that you can easily tap for injectors (we've done it trackside before).

I recommend a TIP Kit to monitor drive pressure if you plan to use chemical supercharging.

Why do you want to spray?

Mike,
Well its a easy way to get some quick hp isnt it? I am fine with the Smarty 4.4/Quad X2 stack that I am now running. I just put the X2 in and its fine, but for the track I wanted something I can turn on for a little extra squeeze.

What do you think about the PSI with what I have and possibly blowing a head gasket?

Theres a guy on here with a kit for sale and Im thinking of buying it if its for the right price.

Also, what is the TIP and what does it do?

BTW guys, I met with Mike just last week, when XXL TEXAN was getting his SSSSS & track bars, great guy! Plus his products are top notch, and he will make sure everything is on the up and up before you leave!

Thanks Kevin!

I think the best thing you can do with a stock common rail HG that seals well is to leave it there and just stud the head - you can even leave that on there if you don't want the extra work to bottom tap it (lot's easier with the head removed).

IIRC, your boost psi isn't very high?
I'd run 50psi and never think about it; IMO 60psi is about tops for durability on the OEM HG (also due to the valvesprings).

Unless you're building for over 600 reliable HP, I wouldn't bother with HG, studs, cam, valvesprings, port work or seat angles, etc.
But if I was, then I'd do it all.

You can never go wrong picking up a nitrous kit on the cheap!

The TIP Kit allows you to monitor the drive pressure in the turbine housing - most people don't realize how high they can get, regardless of published pressure ratios or compressor maps in ad copy. Aftermarket fueling and chemical additives can easily push drive pressure towards 100 psi.
