newbie installing guages (help)

hello all, Ive been lurking for a while and absorbing alot of info all over the DTR. I bought a 04, its my first diesel and I love it. I cant wait to start bombing, but for now all I can get away with is the guages until my warranty runs out. I was thinking of 4 guages but Im not sure of which guages are the closest to the stock ones when the lights are on. Now that Ive got this great rig I need everything to be just ticky-boo and I could use some help. thanks for you patience

Iwas thinking of
1 pre pyro temp
2 post pyro temp
3 tranny temp
4 boost
Is that a good selection??

Instead of post turbo pyro I would get a real oil pressure gauge.

I agree with forgetting the post turbo and get a fuel pressure instead.
The two Im starting with is the Pyro and the boost mounted on the column. Ill get the tranny temp when I start towing.
Just my two cents.

As for which ones look like the stock dash, Check Dipro or issopro I believe they are called. Genos Garage has them.Just my two cents

isspro seems to have the best match, day or night, check them at genosgarage.com they are under "New Dodge White" in the isspro section

I just installed the Isspro gauges on my 05 and I can tell you the match is perfect. Night illumination is exactly the same as the dash lights. I didnt go with the Dipro because I didnt like the different sweep distances on the gauges. The Isspro are all 270 deg ( the Pyro, boost and trans ).

both pre and post will monitor cool down temp. the pre is a lot more accurate than the post. both places still should be down to about 300* before shutting down. I deffinately would get the pre and forget about the post and use it for somthing like fuel pressure

I too, just installed the Isspro's and I like the look (center biezel mount, pic in gal). Goes perfect with the rest of the truck. At night, they look just right and work perfect with the dimmer. I hear everyone talking about the 300* and shut down. I can idle all I want and never hit 300* closer to 350*. Temps have not been below 95 here so that may play a factor too. But the cool thing is, I know what my temps are. Thinking of putting the fuel pressure gauge in too. Isspro got my vote.

Gauges

I have the Dyprocol and love them. They match 100% day and night and work great. The EGT gauge reacts very fast, and no complaints (I think these are the same as the other gauge, issyprol) Sorry at work my heads not thinking right. Love them. I went EGT, tranny, and boost, 3 most important to me. After 100,000 miles and no warrentie, then I'll opt for the fuel pressure one.

So do I. It looks great.

Nonford, where did you get the mount? It looks like the one they sell for Autometer gauges. Supposed to require a mod to fit other brands, according to one seller. Did you have to mod it?

Yes, those are what they refer to as the Autometer Mount. I did not need to modify anything using it with the Isspro gauges. Gauges just mount up and all you do is use the two holding brackets supplied and mount them with the gauges. Simple install, (nonford proof).

I got the whole package deal from Marks place, an advertiser here. Great experience with a great price.

Thanks for the info, I didnt realize that the pre pyro temp was good for monitoring shut down temps (I thought only post did that job) I was thinking of putting two guages on the steering column and one or two on the pillar. I like the steering column position as I have electronic 4 wheel shifting and heated seats, has anyone else tried this spot on the steering column?
Also what order of importance would you all give to each guage if I have an automatic transmission? Is pyro the most important??

I think I could squeeze in two on the steering column and two and the pillar, thats the only reason I was thinking four. But three is ok too. I was going to order up some issopros from the net. Ill get the three, pyro ,boost, and tranny temp. It helps to have a little reassurance before I go and spend money and time on things I dont need ie 2nd pyro temp. I do apprieciate the advice y'all. This is a great site...
