new turbo

Well installed my new turbo the other day with the help from some good friends. The turbo is from HTT its a 62/14. It pulls way harder than the stocker but I can't seem to get above the 35 lbs mark. Oh by the way it sounds awsome, The spool up is just as good as stock even better than stock after about 10 lbs shoots right up to 30_35 no prob. just can't seem to get it over that.
You guys have any ideas i'd like to be at 40 lbs.

You're gonna need to adjust your wastegate. They come preset and you have to adjust it to get more boost out of it.

They've also been having wastegate problems - actually the problems are with the actuator. My dad got his second one and it still didn't work right so he tweaked in it himself until it worked correctly.

either the actuator is weak, or needs adjusted. To adjust it, you will have to disconnect the actuator from the wastegate arm and shorten the rod by screwing the end up on the shaft then hook it back up.

Another option is to put an adjustable boost elbow on. Ihad the same problem with my 62-12. Adjusted the waste gate and still could not get over 38lbs.Make sure you dont have the plastic inner cooler before raising boost levels over 35lbs

I had the same problem with the HTB2 62/12 on my truck. I put a clamp on the wastegate hose and now I can hit 45psi. I plan on an adjustable elbow eventually but this works fine right now....

They are pretty cheap on e-bay. Around $15.00 or so. I just used one of those small red/silver clamps from Home Depot.

I am glad you posted this thread 05DodgeZilla because I am looking at the same turbo for my 04.5. Turbo comes with a 45psi wastegate. Would this turbo be good for me? Mods are in my sig. Thanks and sorry to hijack.

you know I think I could have pulled off a 64 or 66 /14 if you think you want to do bigger injectors I would go with a bigger turbo, mine spools super fast and pulls hard! and I did put a clamp on the wastegate hose and on my way home from work tonight I hit 47 lbs and I let off lol no bout in my mind I could hit 52 no problem just think my head gasket wouldn't like it much. I don't underdtand why they advertise these turbos coming to your door set at 40 lbs because the're not.

Yeah, be careful 05. Mine won't go higher than 45psi with my current setup. You have more fueling than me so you want to be careful once you get around 50psi. Clamping off the hose basically makes the wastegate useless so you can't blame them for you getting more than 40psi... As far as the low numbers without the hose clamped off, this exact turbo was on my 03 and gave me 45psi with no problems. It wasn't until I put it on the 07 that I had the issues with the low boost. Very strange indeed...
