Question New intank fuel pump?? Fuel pump options???

Will my in tank fuel pump is on its last leg and here are my observations:

1. Twice when I reach little less than a 1/2 tank, the truck shudders and I lose throttle
2. I installed a Isspro fuel pressure gauge w/isolator and see no fuel pressure, just to be on the safe side I bought a needle valve waiting to be installed to verify fuel pressure readings
3. I replaced the fuel filter with a new one though the original one only had about 1200 miles on it, same fuel pressure results.

Now my options:

1. installed a new in tank pump
http://autoshepherd.com/product/Fuel...27/CAR/P76148M

2. install a fass or airdog

3. install a fuel mech fuel pump

Prices as follows:

Option1: Carter in tank pump $200
Option2: Fass/Airdog $650
Option3: Fuel Boss $590

I was thinking of Option1 and Option3 together than I would have a backup.
Any friendly advice would be helpful.

I did find that one also. For an extra $30 bucks and getting a Carter fuel pump might be worth it.

I've had the GDP Walbro for 5 yrs and it works fine. You could build that system yourself. The nice thing is... a replacement pump is ~$115 and it's on the frame. Craig

I was considering the GDP Walbro kit. How long has 1 pump lasted for you?

I'm still on the first pump. I have a spare under the seat. I check the pressure every year or so and it's still the same as new. 15psi at WOT/high rpm with the 100hp tune. The pump has some unusual straight thread but it's easily made into 1/8 NPT with a tap and then you can use hardware store fittings. The only thing in the GDP kit that would take a little searching for is a 17 psi pressure relief. A fluid power co. would probably have that. Some guys do the tank vent mod and that leaves the original vent stub available to use for the fuel bypass/return to the tank. Craig

Alright gentlemen, I just finished installing my Isspro mech fuel gauge at the CP3.

The fuel pressure comes up to about 5psi when I turn the key though not turning over the engine and wait for about 20sec. Once I turn over the engine and the truck starts, the pressure drops down to 0.

So does this mean that the fuel pump is on its last leg??

i had a issue with my stock pump recently,i loaded my truck quite heavy with landcape rock and i noticed under my truck was wet,it seems the little plastic fitting that goes from the intank pump to the fuel line broke off,i didnt want to drop the tank to get at it so i cut a 6x6square in the box difectly ontop of the pump,i repaired the line and all was well,,,,,kinda haha coinincidently my fuel presure{using quadzilla cammander with kit}seemed to be very low,and fluctuated btween 0 and 12,psi,after a long ,,,,,,,,,,,,battle diagnosing i came to the conclusion the prob was my fuel sytem relay in the fuse box, under the hood,it also controls the grid heater which was also doing weird stuff,i replaced all 3 relays as i swapped them around to find one that worked and i havent had the fuel pres prob since,if urs is fluctuatng maybe chek the relay, cant rember the number on fuse panel but thier cheap to replace, mite be simple as that

duallydave thank you for the recommendation. Last night I swapped in a new intank fuel tank from Napa. Once installed I get 14psi at idle and 10psi at WOT. The fuel intank module from Napa is a Carter unit.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
