new pump intank

My Lp started to go out, started having a dead pedal.Drop it off at the dealer, sure enough Lp gone. The dealer said they put the new pumps in the tank now.My question is how much better is this?I know that a pump on the side of the block would be better if it went out to change.SO ANY THOUGHTS

From what i hear , your much better off without the intank LP, get yourself a fass , or something similar , and mount it down on the frame rail , away from the vibration of the engine. Also , a bad LP , WILL NOT cause dead pedal , it can be caused either by a bad apps , you can replace or reset the apps ( do a search on apps reset for instructions) OR an IP going bad.

You should fill out your signature so we know what your truck specs are , and any mods you might have. Is the repair under warranty?

I've got the intank pump...and the regular lift pump and am running over 16 psi...even at WOT (my guage only goes to 16 psi)

but if I could go back I would not have had the in-tank pump installed...if the pump goes out...fuel stops...it doesnt continue to let fuel flow through the dead pump like the engine mounted lp does....and I am guessing it would be a big pain to replace because you have to drop the fuel tank to get to the pump.

If I were you I would not have it installed. My pump is working great as of now...but I will fail eventually and whenever it does I will be stranded somewhere

Yes it was done under warranty, It acted like it was not picking up fuel. You are wright they should have check appps. They check the fuel pressure it was low.So they said it was the lp going up.I droped it off and told them how it was acting. This did'nt happen all the time just once just in a while. The pump in the tank is there mod update.Last time I changed the fuel filter,I had a hard time to get all the air out of the line. The fuel driped out of the schraider valve like no pressure. So I took it back to the dealer .

There is LOTS of talk about the intank pump - do a search under 24V drivertrain.

Do a search like Dr.Evil said. If it's being replace under warranty, the in-tank pump is fine. But if you paying for it out of pocket then go aftermarket, in which the options and opinions are endless.

I just dropped my fuel tank yesterday because a shop told me that the tank had crap in the bottom of it. I had about 15 gal of fuel that after getting the tank out - had to siphon into fuel cans.

I just bought this truck, and apparently the LP had gone out once, so the dealer replaced with the in-tank LP.

A friend and I tried for over an hour to unscrew the plastic cap on top of the tank. This cap is where the electronics, LP, and various other assundry items are located. To no-avail - we finally gave up and reinstalled the **** thing!! Truck doesn't seem to run as rough now for some reason.

Anyone know how to get that cap off?

p.s. dropping the tank is a pain, but not technically very difficult. Two bolts holding two straps on. Placed a floor jack under the tank, took the bolts out and removed the straps, lowered it some, and removed the tubes and then lowered it some more and removed all the crap attached to that stupid cap...

I used one of those bung wrenches, with a rubber strap on it. You wrap the strap around the bung and back under the wrench part. It worked well. I think I got it at Sears. If you have any other questions feel free to ask or pm me.

Andy505 you said you put a lp in front of your pump in the tank? Did you have any problems? I was thinking that it would suck the line dry between the tank and the frame mount lp.
