Need to lower egt's

Anything i can do to lower my egt's a bit, i have the edge/juice and only run on levels 1,2, occassionaly 3 and whenever i pull a hill (w/trailer) or get after it my egt's immediately go up to 1300 (upon which time i let off). I have the mbrp 4" flow through muffler, other than that stock. Will a different air intake help?? I only run on level 2 or 1 towing, and this weekend i was only towing a 4 place snowmobile trailer w/3 sleds in it when i initially noticed the egt's so hi. Tried turning down the edge/ and directly reflects a lower egt' reading, any help?

Add a little pressure and it will give you a lot more throttle responce, fuel mileage and lower egt's.

I think he means rail pressure. Like the XZT or EZ.

Water/methanol injection is a good way to cool egts and gain a little hp for towing if it's in your budget.

I have already done most of the "modding" to this truck i plan to. This is a work truck that is used for towing (hence only using levels 1,2, and occassionally 3), i do not want to put a bunch more money into more mods, i just want to be able to use what i have (more than plenty hp, just need to be able to use when needed) i.e. pullin trailers up hills, etc..

Usually everyone always says put a 4" turbo back exhaust on when you have egt issues, but since the dodge already had 4" i just decided to put the muffler on figuring it was enough. (seems like this truck gets alot hotter than my old ford)

So.... i was wondering if an intake possibly or some other "cheap mod" may help me out a bit. I guess the biggest thing is i am just really suprised i am seeing the egt temps i was seing this weekend only pulling a enclosed four place snowmobile w/3 snowmobiles inside (not that much weight). I very rarely if never saw these kind of temps on my old ford (had 4" exhaust).

What is the zxt? and how much?? Anyone know how much the water/ methanol injection costs, and more information. Keep in mind this is a work truck not a friggin race car like some of your trucks are. More power to ya if that's all you need your truck for!

Here's a current running thread on water/methanol in case you haven't come across it yet. Looks like a 250 F drop in EGT. These kits run a little under a grand usually, snow performance makes one of the more popular ones out there. An intake will be quite a bit cheaper and will cool it off a little bit still.

I know you want to make what you have work. Duration is a great thing for making power and low end torque. The problem is the longer the duration the less effective the fuel atomization is. THe long that injector stays open the more the rail pressure drops. Visualize more of a dripping sensation happening instead of a heavy spray pattern.

Now intakes can help and exhaust if you do not have one but, the problem with towing heavy and using duration is that you need to keep the rail pressure up as the fuel burn better. You do not need a lot of pressure just stock levels.

The XZT is the cheapest way on something that is brand new but, an EZ or MP* or something similar will also work. You might scan the classifieds or even call some vendors or the DTR store to get a quote. Typically people see a 150-250 degrees drop when towing heavy? Your results may vary. I cannot speak for other products but, the XZT has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. If it does not do exactly what you wan then return it for a full refund.

Hope that is a better explaination than my original one!

Not hijacking, but same question here. I am running TST R49AP on level 4/3 and it will hit 1400* REAL easy (my defuel is set at 1400) I have upped Rail Pressure to Level 3 and still no change. Should I go higher? And also, 4/3 @ 1400* is UNLOADED.

Any suggestions? Turbo time? I am not wanting to add Meth/water, I want this on #2 only.

I planned on the SPS66 when the $$$$$ allows. I am getting alot of turbo "bark" right now also. I just came back from a test drive, and Fuel Pressure was at 16-17 PSI, and is usually at 20PSI. How can I up the pressure on my 392?

Back off the box. They will add to much heat when towing. How much air restriction has the billet grill added.
What air filter setup are you using. Do you have the stock intake tube installed.

Thanks for the info qzilla, what is XZT?? Never heard of them? and what does it do?

I only run levels 1&2 when towing, what good is it if i can't use the power for towing, that's what i bought it for. As i mentioned this is a light load i was seeing these temps at (maybe 5-6k at most). I have stock air intake, nothing done to it, that is why i was asking if after markets will help much??
