Need a little help
Need a little help
You can see in my signature for my mods. I am strongly kicking upgrading my turbo SOON. Should I upgrade the CP3 with it, or would it be ok to hold off on a CP3? Would it be best to upgrade the lift pump or the CP3? What turbo would ya'll reccomend?
Thanks again!!
Thanks again!!
What is your FP? I have a hard time believing that a stock fuel pump can keep up with a set of 90's at WOT.
I would start with an aftermarket fuel pump. Upgrade the CP3 to an Arson III or a II bag of parts.
Then, I'd hit the turbo.
I think you need all of them now.

I am still learning as I go. I understand gas performance engines to a T, but I am still learning about Diesels.
With the fuel pumps, I noticed some are mated with single, dual, or no filters. Are the filters needed on the systems if you use a high quality fuel filter?
Are the systems mounted on the frame rail or do you have to drop your tank?
In your opinion, is there an advantage using the Arson II 0r III and the bag o parts?
Thanks again for your help.

No worries.
Fuel pumps: There are different styles to fit you needs. If you are going to stay around a stock power area, maybe a programmer, exhaust and air filter, then a raptor 100 would be good for you. Plugs into the tank, plugs into the stock fuel canister. No filters, just a pump.
If you are going bigger, you can go with an Air Dog, it has external filters, and will flow more (in the larger pumps).
All of the aftermarket fuel pumps I have seen are frame rail mounted. (with the exception of gear driven pumps like a mitusa.)
The DIY CP3 mods are great, I have the old Arson II on mine, and it supported 860+ on spray... Pretty cheap, easy to do.
What are your plans for the truck?

Thank you for your reply......
I am wanting to keep my CTD street friendly, but I am not afraid of modding it as I go. I haven't been to a strip or pull with her, but I wouldn't mind going to the strip sometime.
I do tow a 82 HP tractor with it occasionally and take trips in her.
Someday, I might go to twins, NO2, water methanol, or propane.
I usually do a mod when I stumble onto a little $$$.
I don't know if this helps....

Then go with a bigger pump. Air Dog has some good stuff, but there are other pumps out there. I've had my 150 for a while now, no problems. I've installed a few, so of you have questions, let me know.

Yeah. I did it, and I'm a Marine.
I favor pulling the bed when you do a draw straw vice dropping the tank. The rest of it is easy cheesy. I know there are a few threads with pictures around, or I can post some.

The turbo would serve you best at this moment. You kinda got the sticks a little too soon but that is O.K. Take your time and do some research so you don't make a mistake and have to do it again....LOL. The turbo upgrade depends alot on how you use the truck. Towing, daily driver, both, or No towing at all. Looks like an HTT 62/65/13ss or a 62/71/13ss would do you good. Since you do tow I would go with the 62/65/13ss, great secondary for a twins setup later.
