Need Help With Fuel....
I am currently getting ready to add a fuel system upgrade to my 05. On my 02 I had the fass 150gph with filters... EEP installed it and I removed the factory filter setup. I am interested in the Glacier walboro 392 this time and want to add filtering to it but want everything under the hood this time. Should I leave the stock filter unit or get the water fuel sep. and the 2 micron from glacier and make my own mount... didnt like having the filters under my bed side on my 02.. always thought they were prone to damage when using truck offroad or from a highway debris.... what should I do?? Can both fit?? I know the stock filter with and added 2mk in front of airhorn for engine works since glacier sells a mount for it and I dont have the apps there.
Thanks
Thanks
Ive got Glaciers 392 Performance system, with the 2 micron filter and big line kit.
With this setup fuel is first routed through the stock filter/fuel water separator then to the 2 micron filter then to the CP3.
The 2 micron filter is mounted under the stock intake manifold. Glaciers filter kit will work with their manifold, which is very nice, and the stock manifold.
I think this is one of the best mods I ever did. First off it eliminated the stock lift pump from the equation, I got a smoother idle and a little better response. It can keep up with whatever I really ever will do and then some and I have the stock lift pump still installed. Should the Glacier's walbro pump die I can switch over to the stock lift pump and make it back home. Also the walbro is cheaper than the stock lift pump from what I've heard and will be TONS easier to replace.
The Glacier pump was my second mod, first was gauges. My third mod was Smarty. (I've got some other stuff mixed in there too, but they weren't really as big and expensive as those three mods)

I put my 2 micron filter and FW separator just to the right of my gas pedal and a little behind (starts at about 6" back) I mounted it to the side of the sheet metal with 4 carriage bolts with fender washers, 2 bolts almost horizonal, and 2 bolts vertically. It's very strong and completly out of the way, you almost have to crawl under the truck to see it. If you get down on hands and knees you can just see the bottom of FW seperator.
I didn't like the idea either of mounting it on the frame rail, because I have a 2 WD and it would be too low, definetly lowest thing on truck. It took me a while to mount, but not because it's complicated or hard, just I was making up my mind how to do it. I have the GDP kit along with the fuel boss, so I have the fuel going to just under the torsion damper and then coming back to filters and then going up to stock filter (which I'll eventually remove after I figure out how to get rid of it and still have the stock lift pump (got two pumps, stock and new mechanical fuel pump, so I don't run out at 1/4 tank-check out the 'mitusa vs GDP fuel boss' thread for a bunch of talk about running out of diesel on 1/4 tank with aftermarket fuel pumps)
I used the mount that comes with the GDP 2 mic filter and FW kit, but drilled new holes and had to bend the upper part of the mount a little with a cresent wrench so the carriage bolts bolted on to it at a 90 degree angle cause the transmission tunnel isn't exactly vertical where I mounted it. Also used some spacers I made of 3/8 pipe between mount and sheet metal.
