So i'm missing it....what did the trick? Adjusting the max boost setting on the turbo?

I can see that allowing more top end boost (and helping overall perf), but how does that help with faster spool from the line?

He adjusted the elbow for the WG, thus not allowing it to open as early.

It was probably starting to open the WG at very low boost numbers.
