kept goin faster and faster

2006 , buddy of mine had this problem hit the accelerator to pass a big rig on the highway and the truck kept goin faster and faster after he took his foot off , pedal wasn't stuck either , he had to ride the brake while flying down the shoulder of the the road , then it finally stopped , took it to the dealer and left it there for 2 days they couldn't find anything wrong , has anyone had this happen to them:

Yes, but with a pressure box on the truck. Does he have any mods?

I've got a stock 04 and occasionally the same same happens to mine. Once in a while after it happens the check engine light will come on, I make an appointment with the dealer, I wait 2-3 weeks, and the dealer tells me there has been enough start cycles that the computer has already cleared the trouble code and they can't find anything.

Yes! Exact same thing happened to me but I was in traffic, tried the brake, tried kicking accelerator, finally stepped on the clutch (obviously not the best idea but I thought I was out of options coming up on 4 lines of slow moving traffic). The tach shot up well past redline, bounced off of 3,800 a few times and then everything went back to normal.

On a side note, I was afraid I f'd something up over-revving it, so I did a bunch of searching around here, and everyone seemed to think 3,800, while not perfect, shouldn't have done any damage.

I thought of taking it to the dealer but figured I would be without a truck for 3 days and they would just tell me everything looks normal.

This was over a month ago and it hasn't happened again.

Should I take it in and mention the pedal tsb??

Oh yeah, truck was 100% stock at the time. Since then someone put an S&B intake under the hood and my muffler fell off.

My wifes 03 did the same thing pulling out in traffic and once in a parking lot backing in to a spot she was mortified but had the presents of mind to shut it off both times after she restarted it it was fine that was 3 months ago hasnt happened since. Dealer said he had never heard of that.
