muffler question

I was wondering if anyone knew who makes the quietest low restriction muffler? (Yeah I said the quietest. My wife is gonna kill me if I get something loud) Thanks

The MBRP replacement is no louder than stock until you lay in to it. Regular driving is like stock. But towing loads at interstate speeds you can here it talking.

I'm a newbie like you but from what I've seen on these posts the nelson 51" muffler is very quiet.

Do a SEARCH for quiet muffler. I.ve learned to go to SEARCH before I do a thread. It gives you way more feedback than you'll get from a thread.

51 inch nelson. 4 inch in 4 inch out straight through. I got mine at NAPA. Nothing is as quiet as a stock muffler. This one is a little louder but has a much deeper rumble to it at idle. The plus with this muffler is no drone while towing heavy or getting on it. EGT's down atleast 150 deg. I removed my silencer ring from the turbo and it sounds really good!

MBRP makes a great flowing and sounding muffler. They also make a smaller resonator that can act like a muffler as well if you dont have much room for a larger muffler. Just some options for you!

06Bighorn,

Check under your truck just after the muffler if you haven't got a resonator you should consider the MBRP MK96116 performance replacement muffler. It's built from stainless to match the rest of the factory system, has welded hangers that re use the stock rubber mounts and is a direct bolt in item. Sounds stock till you flat foot the go pedal too! We have sold a lots of them and the members love it!

A Nelson or Donaldson straight thru in the 51" range will be quite, even if towing. Those short performance mufflers will always be louder.
