Muffler delete or not???

I'm thinking about having the Muffler and Cat removed from my truck. I do a lot of highway driving. My question is- How loud under normal driving (cruising ) conditions is my truck gonna be??? She's all stock. I'd like to hear that I'll gain some performance, but I'
d really just like some more sound out my truck... Without having to spend a fortune replacing an otherwise great truck.

Thanks!

well i have stacks and mine is to loud somtimes while towing. But my buddy had the set up you want and it basicly sounded like aftermarket exhaust. If you dont like it its easy to go back. And i do think your turbo will spool a litle faster

Mine was too loud above 2200 rpms, so that would be above about 75. And that was just with the muffler removed.

No muffler but left cat to keep the smog police happy. Great sound not too loud for me.

Did the muffler delete and didn't think it was too loud, but there is a drone in the cab under load and in the upper RPM range. I ran my MBRP 5" straight for a while and thought it was too loud...maybe not apples to apples with the stock diameter run straight, but that's my comparison.

I removed the muffler, left the CAT. I think it sounds great, no drone everyday driving, but it could annoy some people when towing heavy and hitting some hills.

To cut down on drone, I would suggest adding an exhaust tip that extends out past the body. When I added mine, it really cut down the noise, plus my bumper is not always black.

Great Idea on the Tip. I just got that done, but the shop didn't have the time to cut out the muffler right then since it was already closing time. That's gettin done this weekend.
Thanks for the info!!!

The harmonic resonance will drive you out of the cab at about 65-75mph. If you run the cat it should help the sound, but wont eliminate it completely. I would put a good exhaust system on it to get the flow, but keep your neighbors happy.

I did the same thing and it sounds just right to me..not too loud but a little throaty under acceleration. Plus..$75 for a bit of pep and a great sound was even better!

I agree.. I've been running a muffler delete with a factory cat for a few years now, and I am happy with it.

Muffler delete = loud (too loud for me, especially towing or hauling)
Muffler & cat delete = louder (WAY to loud for me)
