Mileage will also depend on the tread pattern. An AT will get better MPG than an MT. A solid outer lug will get better than an AT. My usually get around 16-17 mixed.

If you ever seen them side by side you would think they were a whole tire size bigger, its a pretty big difference.

I've got 35" Toyo MT's, and I get 11-12 in town and a best of 14 on the highway with the cruise set at 70. On one stint from LA to SF at 75 I got 12mpg... Unloaded. I'm kind of a geek, so I track my mileage. I've entered almost every tank over the 15k life of the truck, and the lifetime average of the truck is 12.1.
I'm curious to see what it is now with the Smarty and trans goodies...

I do believe that mileage numbers vary greatly between the Automatic and the Manual trucks. I have a manual and it seems to spin more RPM's at highway speeds than my buddies Auto. Therefore a taller tire would help mileage on trucks with the manual transmissions. If you are running an automatic tall tires seems to hurt the mileage numbers. I don't know what the high gear ratio is on an automatic compared to a manual. But anyone with a manual would probably agree with me that we are always looking for another gear when arriving at highway speeds. I actually have better fuel economy driving around town than I do when I get on the highway. (Average 19.5 around town / 17 on highway) As soon as my stock tires are wore out I was planning on going to 35's. At one time I figured that this would drop my rpm's at 70mph from 2200 to 1900. In my mind I would gain fuel economy. And yes, all of my mileage figures are hand calculated. The computer reading is practically worthless.
