I don't think it is likely that the pre 2006 Dodge Ram with automatic transmission
will be approved for use with the exhaust brake, at this point. It has been approved for the
2006 model year, but I don't think that Dodge is comfortable with the idea of retrofitting the
earlier model years, due to the reliability of the transmission interface. Sorry for the bad news.
Thanks for the inquiry.

Boy...
Way to rain on somebodys parade....gessssh. I'm sure some time down the road we'll be good to use one. The stock 48 RE tranny will hold the gear untill it's low enough to downshift (torque converter stays locked though) My guess would you would really only need to turn the jake on and off and it would work rather well. If I had extra money I would def. try this.
Pacbrake says there brake will work and it plugs into the EMC. I was talking to Doug at pacbrake and if you have 2004.5 and up with the tow/haul it will work. I never asked about the earlier models. The 1-800 number is on their website
Do you mean Dodge doesn't trust the auto-tranny in the pre-2006 years?
Is that true?
Thanks,
DT.
