MBRP Question

For those of you that have replaced the stock muffler, how much of a PIA would it be to unbolt the stock one and bolt in a replacement?
I was looking at my 05 and the stocker is clamped on.
Thanks.

its a major PIMA or PITA. they might as well be welded together as tight as that clamp compresses the two together.

Easiest thing to do is cut the pipe in front of the cat and behind the muffler. Then put a 4 inch piece of pipe from where the cat was to the tail pipe or if you want to flow through muffler, install it in there. The straight piece of pipe will work and the tailpipe will remain in the correct location.

Same here. I took the clamps off and tried to wiggle them apart. I spent an hour and a half trying to pull, hammer, and pry. Save yourself alot of time and energy and use a tool to cut the pipe where you need to. Make sure you measure twice before you cut . Good Luck

I used an air chisel. I was planning on trying to save the muffler, but after 45 minutes of wrestling...out cam the air chisel and it was off in 2 minutes.

I just used a zip cutter to slit the muffler inlet/outlet. One on each side and wiggle the muffler to spread them and the muffler came off no problem.

One thing I ran into when installing the MBRP muffler was the muffler with the supplied "S" pipe was about 3" longer than the factory muffler, so I had to shorten the tailpipe to make it all fit. If you were to trim it anywhere else, the hangers won't line up.

Another Option

just a heads up but Magnaflow makes a kit now that just replaces the stock muffler with a highflow Magnaflow Stainless steel (lifetime warranty) muffler & includes a Stainless steel Tip. Its called the D-fit and it just came out for all Makes of Diesels. It comes with the right offset pipes and all the hardware you will need to do it yourself!!!! Very Easy!

If you cannot find it anywhere I can post part Numbers if you need.

Save yourself some money and just replace the stock muffler with a 4" piece of pipe. I cannot tell much if any at all in the sound between my mbrp muffler and a straight pipe. The converter quiets the system down a lot. If you lose the cat then it will be much louder though.

Kind on the same topic, I wanted to install the Cat test pipe, but who sells a clamp or a flange to reinstall the cat?

save the money and the trouble and leave the stock muffler/exhaust alone.

Unless you're gonna rip it all out and install a set of duals or stacks!!

I disagree. I added the RPM Muffler delete and my egts dropped. Also less time on cool down.

is that just the strait pipe, post cat? If so how loud is it?

Just to qualify, I put an Aero Turbine on my old truck and all it did was make noise I actually felt a loss of low end torque. Dodge seems to have the ex systems dialed in pretty well.
