Manual high idle + smarty

So I want to have manual high idle enabled on 5.9l G56 but I don't want to pay the $500 some dollars for the clutch switch kit. I want to get a smarty PoD but I was wondering if with the smarty I can enable manual high idle? Or do I have to ground pin #22 first for the manual high idle to work with the smarty?

You have to ground pin 22. The pigtail from Cummins is around $10. Its very simple to do. Took me less than 15 minutes.

I gave 3164263 to the Cummins dealer and it is the ~6" wire and pin. Roughly $12. Not sure if that answers your question since technically it was a Cummins P/N...

Does this allow you to use your CC to set the rpm speed? My idle already advances to about 1100 rpm when cold out, but it would be nice to set it manually. Will this work on my 03?

As for if it will work on an 03? No idea. I'm not even 100% sure it will work on mine, but I have a later build 2003 with the APPS under the battery, so I figured for $13 why the hell not try it.

If it works as I hope it will, then yes it will allow CC high idle.

EDIT: oh you have an auto, I don't think a pin should need grounding. There was a thread recently that had a few TSBs listed that needed to be done on older trucks.

It doesn't work on most 03's. But you have an auto and a smarty, put it in park, turn on cruise and hit set. If it goes to 1100 it works, if not, it dont.

You can have the dealer try and enable it, if the function does exist in your computer but isnt turned on, had to have the dealer enable the man high idle on my 07

You do not need the clutch cut out switch this is a gimmick from Dodge.. When the truck is in the hi idle mode it will turn itself off and return to the normal idle mode if it senses any forward or rearward moment (those of you who have it enabled try it - at a safe location of coarse). Touching the brake pedal will do the same thing. Like posted above get the pigtail form Cummins or Genos and ground pin 22 on the B plug.. if you buy the plug from Dodge it will cost you $30.. The choice is yours

I got the pigtail off Ebay, brand new in the Cummins package for $6.50, free shipping too.

There were a few more left last time I checked. Just search the number 3164263.
