Ok this is going to be some years before I would try but until then, my idea is to change out my NV-5600 for a built 68RE when they are common. What all is needed to change out manuals to autos?

Seriously its best if you can find a guy with an auto that wants a manual, park them side by side and swap tons of parts.

There's so many little odds and ends it would cost you a fourtune of little nickle and dime parts, not to mention the big items like steering colum, ecm, carpet, console, drive shafts, heck almost a whole truck....

Why do you want to swap. I'd never do it, the few people that do it do it for racing. Either deal with it or sell it for an auto.

Its not cheap or easy, then add in the cost of a built up auto

 

I know someone who did a NV5600 to 48RE swap.

All told, about $12,000.

I'd rather buy another truck and swap over my mods.

 

AST sells conversions i belive, i heard something like 12K for that as well.

 

I figured it would be over 10K to get it to work. I figured if one day I had to put in a built transmission I might as well do something unusual.
