Making Donaldson fit

Is it true, that I can simply install a STRAIGHT piece of 4" pipe (get rid of resonator thing), to make the Donaldson MO85171 fit?

If so, how much pipe do I need to get?

Thanks,
Thirsty

(get rid of resonator thing)

being you have a 600, that resonator thing is a cat... removing it is illigal... with that beign said, yeah 4" straight pipe is all you need... if you get 2 butt joint band clamps and some straight pipe, cut the cat out and install the straight pipe... length wise i don't know [i never had a cat on mine] but 24" should do you enough to loose the kitty

I've got the MO85171 on my 03. All you'll need to do after you take care of the cat like Nickle said, to put the muffler on, is loosen the down pipe at the turbo so you can twist the pipe and you will probably need to adjust the tailpipe slightly. Mine was easy, only problem was the tailpipe sat closer in under the bed, so I was getting a good amount of soot on the bumper. So, my fix for that was to weld on a Megs SS tip, which moved the exaust back out where it belonged. Now it not only looks and sounds good, but I haven't had to scrub soot off the bumper in a while. By the way, my rig had no cat, so I didn't have the worries about smog checks and tampering w/ smog required parts. But if your in a state where smog inspections aren't an issue, I would go ahead and do it. -Steve
