Mag high tech VS PML
Rear Axle Covers
As it happens I went with the Mag High Tech. I think the important thing to think about here is that you do NEED an extended capacity and CLEARANCE cover,.... and I think all those mentioned would provide that. Where I'm coming from here is "back in the day",... a couple years or more ago I recall a post from a guy who had worked for Dana and then went to work at AAM. When asked if he saw or knew of any major differences that we with AAM should be concerned with,...he said NO,... with the exception of one thing. He said the clearance on the cover of the AAM was not as much as on the Dana and it makes sense that that would mean that you'd have less volume of lubricant to circulate around the ring gear than with a cover that provided more clearance and volume of fluid which in itself should provide better cooling.
You're crazy if you think the stocker is stonger than the MH just because it's steel. It will bend into the ring gear like nothing.
I got the RETRO FIT KIT for the FAST COOLERS directly from the company. Go to their website an they have contact information. They may have the kit available on their site now, but I e-mailed them regarding the COOLERS and they replied that they offered a kit. I bought both the Fast Coolers and the kit from them directly. http://www.fastcoolers.com/index.html

I believe it's a little more complicated than that. The 2500 SO with autos (and that may only be with the 47re) have the 10.5. All 3500 SO's have the 11.5.
If I remembered correctly.....

Forgive my ignornace here but what exactly is the difference between a 10.5 - 11.5? Just the size of the cover in inches?
How would I go about finding my axle size? I have a 03 SO Auto 48re, 2500.

MikeyB, you might be right about the 3500 only getting the 11.5. However I was thinking along that same lines as you that the SO only had the 47re, but Cameronoed and Nate both have SO 48re trucks. I need more sleep my head is starting to hurt
Is there a code or something I can look up to figure this out?
