ECM transplant
Well tks 97360. I'm just trying to do a little more research to determine if I'm going to accomplish what I hope to accomplish.
Specifically when you get an ECM reflashed then you provide your VIN. So will I end up with an ECM that is exactly like mine or since I'm using an '05 ECM will I end up with the characteristics (exactly) of the '05. Which is evidently what I need to run this program,... or at least that's how it appears.
When I spoke to Extreme Truck, that you were kind enough to provide, I was told that if you had a built 04.5 then it would work so perhaps it would have worked on my truck if I hadn't had my ECM all trashed up with other programs,.... so maybe it really doesn't make an difference if it flashes as an 04.5 or the 05.
Frankly what I hope to achieve is an everyday program and then without messing up my ECM I would go through the inconvenience of swapping out my ECM for KILL for events and such. Since my dealer reflashed my ECM then the drivability and power of my truck is totally differenct than b-4 the reflash. As far as performance it is the very best thing I have done for my truck. Major difference. I really should run up to MCS and dyno now that I'm reflashed.
Anyway this should give you some insight into where I hope to go with this thing. Tks for the support. Will let you know how it all works out as I have some tune-like things happening on the truck very soon.

Thats something I love about the Bullydog....leave it on performance stacked with whatever else....but plug it in rolling down the road and hit Y, and suddenly you have lots more power and its def in KILL mode then...thats pretty cool if you ask me.

I talked with him Friday,... he sounds terrible. I can't imagine how he could get on his feet before at least another week and with meds at that. I told him to just hang up and we'd talk latter,... I felt bad for the dude. He said he was as sick as he has ever been.

You have a great idea here changing to an 05 ECM...but like you, i'm very interested to see how this turns out.

I think no doubt you can look forward to seeing SMARTY with some form of adjustability. Marco's about as smart a guy as I know and he understands fully the needs of his users.
I haver read it several times but I want to make sure for the record.
I know the UCL only works on 05s, or so they they say, but is it true too that it only works on autos?
I will likely get a smarty but if the UCL was an option I may consider it... one day.

UCL (Scarry Larry)
It didn't work on MY 04.5 but both HTS and Extreme Truck who sell the Scarry Larry say they have customers with the 04.5 who it does work for. I've decided that it probably does and would have for me except for MY messing around with too many downloaders. I also think that it probably works a bit better on the 05 since that is exactly what it was designed for. That's why I'm buying a 05 ECM. Best of both worlds,... I hope.
