With my recently installed HTT 62/65/13ss I am pretty impressed in the way she tows, spools surprisingly quick off the line equal 2 that of the stockie but the big difference I can tell is the upper power band on a steep grade climb with the EGT's not exceeding 1200 ............actually I only saw it once pass that temp on a hill but it was because of a pair of hotties walking on the side of the road dressed in a 2 piece summer ware caused me to lug the motor
If you get the 13SS put the extra coin & get her polished and we can start a GOLDEN NUGGET club

Is there a benifit to the 71 over the 65?

the 71 flows more air, slightly less DP... at the expense of more lag. With a manual tranny, you can drive around that lag a little easier than with an auto.

I tow pretty heavy with the 71 wheel, and work it pretty hard. Like I said, she screams when i go to shift her! I won't complain, because the 4.4 and MP-8 combo spool this thing up just like stock. You being up in Idaho means more altitude, so lag will be more of an issue there. That's why I'd still go with the 65 hweel.

Yeah, the air's pretty thin up her in spud country. I think I'm going to stick with the 65. Thanks all for the input.

Id say the beauty of Enumclaw is about on the same level as most of BC... Both nice places..
My TC% is 91% (supposedly). I like it with the auto.. Except when towing 12-15k going where we go. I drive almost every weekend to the oregon coast to go duning. When we go there, its a lot of slower roads (50-55mph) and my truck setup sucks for that. 3.73 with 35's and heavy trailer on slow roads. I can't find a perfect gear to travel at those speeds and keep the turbo spooled.
Not towing it flat rocks though.

turbo question
If you are only pushing your stock turbo to 33psi, you are leaving HP and cooling capacity on the table. Try running your stock turbo 42-45 psi and then decide if you need to upgrade. Stocker is all you need for 500 HP or less. If you want to tow with 475 HP and less than 1400 egt's, you need twin turbos or a 400 gallon water injection tank.
