Look at the Aluminum Tread Plates
I saw them on eBay too and thought they looked really good in the picture, but I was concerned about the fit. I also have a Mega cab and was concerned that the rear door plates might be undersized.
If you don't mind, I have a few questions about them.
How do they fit (are they tight against the truck body or do they stick out so dirt and gravel can get between the plates)?
Is the rear door plate similar in proportion to the front door plate?
And how easy (or hard) are they to install?
Thanks for any feedback,
EDR

They fit pretty good, too tight for gravel, but I think dirt may be able to get under the top portion. The rear ones are shorter than the front ones, but look the same. I didn't put the rear ones on. It only took a minute or two to install because it's just double sided tape. Just clean your paint with alcohol pads first so it will adhere good....none were supplied though. The top portion fits up under the rubber weather strip so that might keep most of the dirt out....I'll just have to wait and see. The previous owner of my truck was one of those heavy booted, must drag my feet while getting into the truck kinda guys. The rest of my truck looks like new except for that, so it was driving me crazy. I think it looks real good now.
gtaj4,
Thanks for the response. I'd really like to get a set to protect the sills from the damage you mentioned. I try to be careful myself, but I've got two young boys and taking care of Dad's truck and keeping it clean is the last thing on their minds (even after repeated warnings).
I think I'll add a set to my Christmas wish list! Thanks again for the details.
CatSanner295,
The only place I've seen this style has been on eBay as gtaj4 mentioned, and I've only seen them listed in the bright diamond plate finish. I don't see why you couldn't paint them or have them powder coated.
I know Lund makes a set, but I'm not sure they're designed for the rear doors and I think they're the basic black plastic style protectors.
