Lift pump pick-up and return-which is best
Lift pump pick-up and return-which is best
After reading until my eyes are dried and red I have deciede to tackle the air dog install myself. I have read several posts about the different pick up tube ideas as well as the return.
I need some more info about which is the best way to go for my 06 in my sig. I was hoping to use the factory pick-up and plum the AD 100 into that but that is only possible on the 04.5 and earlier trucks and most people say to not pull through the facroty pump like I have in the tank and also the line may be too restrictive, is this true or can the stock pick-up be uesd?. My plan now is to use the stock canister and remove the pump, use a an aluminum draw straw with a bung style fitting for the return (I know someone makes a metal draw straw but cannot remember who) that can be shaped as needed and plum the return line from the pump back into the cannister like fisherguy did. I need to figure the pick-up out to keep in the canister. I want to contain everything to the stock canister and do not want to drill any holes in the tank.
I want to make this a one time deal and want to get it right the first time. I do not want any 1/4-1/8 tank issues with loss of pressure and I want this to be very reliable. I was hoping my stock unit would be fine for the Jr but it will pull it down to 0 psi quite easily on the #3 setting and that is unacceptable. I believe the AD100 wil be plenty for my goal of 400-450 max rwhp.
Looking for any and all info, I may be headed in the wrong direction so be sure to pipe up
if I am talking goofy.

I used the AD100 with a Glacier draw straw plumbed into the Libery canister and used the factory liberty canister feed TO the AD, works great, I can run to an inch of fuel in the tank with no problems.
You may be able to use your stock canister if you remove the factory pump but the most important thing is to plumb the AD return into your canister.
Follow the link in my signature for my "how to".
A Raptor would be a lot less hassle but if you want the filtering the AD is the way to go.

Liberty canister part number is 5140832AB, available at:
dodgeparts.com
... or you could try removing the pump from your stock canister.
Here's some good reading for you:
http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/im...umpExposed.pdf
To do the install like I did you'll need the Glacier that I show in my thread and the Liberty module. If your fuel pressure gauge goes into you banjo bolt you'll need the elbow with the threads for your gauge 53willy's shows in his thread from Vulcan:
http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...-Degree/Detail
I ordered a few more feet of ½" hose "just in case".
