Lift Pump

O.K. so I have came to the conclusion that I need to replace my stock lift pump. From what I have read it seems that you simply take out the stock lift pump in the tank and put a FASS or Glacier Walbro pump in line with the fuel line on the frame rail........right? I need to figure this out soon before I have waranty replace my stock lift pump for $250. Would it be worth performing the above mentioned changes?

You need to go with Glacier's Walbro kit. We know its reliable, its affordable and if the pump breaks down you can find a replacement alot faster.

Well then my main question is the process of installing it. Do I need to tear out my stocker LP and the new one will replace the stocker or what. I would really like to do this changover this weekend.

Has yours been changed before? If not its NOT in the fuel tank. Its under the filter housing.Only 05 up was it in the tank or if replaced in the last year or so then it was MOVED to a intank pump. From what I understand if a intank or up front pump it has to be removed as if it fails a aftermarket pump will not pump from or through a dead pump.

Then you had better pick up the phone ASAP and call Richard at Glacier Diesel Power so he can overnight you a kit. He can also answer all of your questions about the installation.

With the Walbro, it is almost impossible to tel it is running even when you put your hand on it. Other than a litle fluid "squirting" sound when I 1st key on the ignition, i don't even know it's there. Sure am glad I have a fuel pressure guage to let me know it is there though.

I cant hear mine in my 2nd gen at all when its running. I also can't hear Brads in his 3rd gen. Some people say they can hear theirs, and some say they dont. The 95 GPH will be quieter than the 150. BUT if you have a VP-44 or stock CP3....all you need is the 95.

On the Glacier system I see that there is a return line and valve so the pump is obviously moving a bit more fuel than the stock pump, however with the bypass valve so close to the pump I wouldn't expect to see a lot of fuel pressure at the injection pump.

Does anyone have this system and a fuel pressure gauage? I would love to know how much fuel pressure you see at the banjo bolt on the injection pump.

how much you want to see? the return at the pump is the Reg. you can set the pressure for what ever you want, now he is the big benny the motor on the pump is cooled by fuel not by outside air. the Walbro pump that is

I don't need to see much, but I would like it to register on my guage so I can watch it. 5-8lbs would work.

I wonder if this setup would work at -40F. My truck does see these temps from time to time.

Mine show about 20-23 PSI at the fuel filter inlet. Plenty of pressure. And the relief goes in near the CP3 to control the pressure and help vent air. The relief is installed separately so you could put it wherever you want. Before the filter would be another option so that just in case the filter suddenly clogged badly the pressure would not get high enough to "remove" the lid. Probably two reliefs would be best. One at the CP3 and one at the filter inlet with the filter bypass set a little higher.

Ok, that makes sense. You probably don't want it before the filter unless the valve is set to a much higher pressure than the filter (which is changing as it gets dirty), though you wouldn't notice that the filter is getting dirty since it wouldn't show up on your fuel pressure guage.

I wonder how reliable the valve is, since it failing in the open position may starve your inj pump for fuel, and closed position would kill your filter housing.

Um...your pressure concerns are not warrented.

You can set up the Glacer kit to see any pressure at the CP3 inlet.

I have mine set at 27 psi and it only will drop to 25 psi for an eyeblink before it recovers at 600hp fueling levels.

It really is that amazing of a pump/kit...

I even have a remote mount for the 2 micron filter and lots of "extra" fuel line to travel from the OEM filter back to the 2 micrin under the truck and then back to the CP3...no issues.
