Just got a new truck .. whats working best now
I just got a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab HO Auto. It's on its way to me right now so of course I'm already looking to spend money on upgrading it. A little about me. I used to be terraj on here and had a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Kelderman 6" air ride lift, four link rear, Bullydog torque dog, intake, exhaust, rv injectors and loved my truck. Financial situation forced me to sell it and take a huge loss but now that I'm out of the hole two years later I've got another. I was considering Bullydog again but have heard a lot about Edge and I like the PDA display of the Banks kit.
So really I'd like to know, what are you running and what should I look out for on the '03. Are the tranny's better in these than in the '99 because I had that rebuilt shortly after putting the torque dog in because it was slipping all over the place.

Oh yeah .. I'm taking off the Frontier-Gear front bumper (will be for sale) and just ordered a "Road Armor" not from Road Armor to take it's place.

Other= SmartyCR, and I've owned both the Bully Dog and the Banks sixgun/spd ldr. You need to add Quadzilla products to your poll also, I would vote for the race box over the others as well. FYI, Smarty is a downloader and the Quadzilla products are boxes. I wouldn't worry about the tranny unless your going to abuse the truck(drive it like you stole it), maybe a TC and VB.
Nice truck by the way

A friend of mine has the 6 gun on his Powerstroke and he's not happy with it either. He said it might be different on the Cummins though and didn't know. He's in the market for a new Dodge now anyway after all the problems he's had with his truck.
I looked all over to try and figure out how to edit the poll but can't find anything. Does anyone know how to do it so I can add more options?

Nope.
Just remember on the 2003 models there is no CL tune, the only reason for a Triple dog over a power pup would be internet upgradable. The 130hp tune is kinda laggy IMO compared to what I've seen and used on my truck w/ other mods. In fact I dynoed more w/ a Banks sixgun than the BDDL
OH, I love talking about banks around here

Definitely need to add some options to your poll!
Quadzilla, Smarty, TST, MP8, Dr. Performance, Diablo, etc!
I voted Bullydog...but notice i have an 05 so i can use Crazy Larry (and SCARY LARRY) Personally i would not recommend a Bullydog on an 03. Diablo seems to have a great programmer for the 03 for the money spent!

What is a CL tune? A lot of what I'm reading is new to me .. I just went with a Torque Dog in the past and was done for electronics. Now I'm researching again and seeing all these downloaders. I get that one is a box in the truck and the other updates the software but I thought they would have the same result ... if they can be stacked I guess they do other things.
One of the reasons I listed the ones that I did is I want one of the monitors to display EGT, Boost, Trans Temp and something else. I did a tripple guage pod in the last truck and don't want to do that again.

OH you want a monitor too.....
Quadzilla has the Commander (good all round choice)
Edge has the Attittude or A2 (good all round choice, not as many features as the Commander)
TST has the R49 (if you don't plan to go BIG hp, this may be too much.)
Bullydog has the Outlook (like i said, wouldn't suggest it on an 03)
those are good options for a monitor, but they get steep in price, mechanical gauges would run you about $300 for a set of three (EGT-exhaust gas temp, boost, and trans temp/or fuel pressure if you wish) with a pod to mount them in on your A-pillar.
The Commander is not steep in price at all. It is very close to a set of mechanical gauges and cheaper than a bunch of them.
Also if you need an economy gauge that works flawlessly look at this:

I would vote Smarty, but I dont like it on an auto. I think a Smarty works best on the lower rpm band, auto keeps the revs higher the whole time. It is supposed to have a new SW that has a better top end... maybe that will fix it. So I have to say a TST if you want big power...... I have seen a nasty flexplate from a TST.... isnt that right 97.
