Just got approved for injectors
Just got approved for injectors
My bank (AKA the Wife) pre-approved me for a set of injectors. I am looking at the DPP 90hp injectors (mainly because I am moving to Seattle and they are right down the road and i have read good things about em). My question is what else do I need to do to my engine to handle these. I know i need my tranny is in need of a upgraded and thats in due time. I am thinking Head studs is a must and will eventually get a turbo.
DDP is a good company, but by the looks of it you do towing, I would recommend going with 50 hp sticks. They will actually increase your fuel mileage, and you will still need to upgrade your fuel system. 90's are good if you are going to race, but for towing stay with the 50's,, and trust me they still make big power

With a stock tranny and turbo I can't believe your even considering injectors. The tranny will not hold and the turbo will never cool it. Also with 90 hp inj it drains the rail too fast. I was having that problem with 80's. Get the hot upgrade from Edge for $100 and put the rest toward a convertor and valve body at least. The hot upgrade will give you more fuel than you can cool now and the tranny upgrades will feel like another 50 hp.
Gotsmoke6 has a 62-14 turbo and a smarty anything over 60 hp and the convertor slips. 170 hp and it shutters and shakes

Don't worry about the studs.. You are far from needing them.. As the others have stated, take care of your trans. A converter/shift kit is good enough to hold your truck to some quick quarter times especially being that it's 2wd. Look at my signature.. My 06 2500 is doing low 12's at 111 mph on a very simple setup. Here's my suggestion in order.. Torque converter/shift kit, 62-14 turbo, DDP 90hp injectors.. You'll be running very quick at this point.. Then you can focus on extras such as the lift pump.. This combo pulls heavy trailers easily, and does very well on mileage..

You definately dont need studs, unless you plan on hitting over 50lbs of boost continuously. Personally, I think that 90hp sticks are too big for a stock turbo and fuel system. I personally think that 90's are more of a high end street / race size. I am getting lots and lots of fuel from my 50's, and they helped my fuel mileage, and work great for towing. I will probably upgrade my sticks later this year, just cause I dont tow any more with this truck.
I personally thing the first order is allways the tranny, and then the fuel system (fass etc) then air/exhaust. Then get the electronics going. When you start to get too crazy with the electronics, then cp3.
