Installing my studs and 110ATS injectors,(after researching this site I would go with other injectors but oh well). On the head studs have read where some guys are going easy on thier truck for about 1500 miles, then retourque the studs. Other guys crank them down and let her eat. Read a thread yesterday where a guy checked his 2 years later and were dead on 125ftlbs still. I plan to turn my boost up to between 55-60lbs, nothing too high. Opinions on wether to go easy for a couple hundred miles and retourque, or just lockem down and run the hell out of it?

 

I persoanlly feel it is worth the time to at least go over it once more to see if it has any movement. If you get the gasket 100% collapsed, you stand a very good chance of keeping it around for a while.

 

I would check it again after a few heat cycles... I put 700 miles on mine between headgasket failures and a couple of my bolts were looser than the others. On the other hand, A friend of mine checked his after more miles and some sled pulls and noticed nothing.

 

It doesn't take that long to check and retorque the bolts and it is a good habit to get into especially if you are running over 40psi and/or 1450 degrees on a regular basis. Like most maintenance jobs...with a positive attitude it is fun truck work....with a negative attitude it is a chore. ks

 

here is some huge advice don't take the top of the injector off there are small parts in there that happen to get lost

 

Why would he take the injector apart? LOL Never mind. I ain't gonna ask. But yes you are right there is a check ball in there that is very easy to lose

 

I would follow the recommendations from the manufacturer / retailer explicitly. When we installed mine, we torqued them in stages during the initial install, warmed the truck up, retorqued them, and then I retorqued again after 1000 miles.

On the injectors, be gentle when putting the nuts on the studs. They will break relatively easy. I am living proof of that!

 

Don't you have to remove the rockers or injectors to get to some of the studs? If that is the case you might want to go an extra 10 ft lbs on the hidden ones and retorque the rest?????
