Installed TST today ??PROBLEMS!!?

I'm very impressed with the power on the lower settings, the highest it will hold is 5/5. It hardly smokes at all either
I bumped it up to 9/5 for a short burst just to see some smoke, and SMOKE IT DID!!!! However shortly after that (5sec pull) it farted really loud and lost a cylinder!??? After another 5sec or so it picked back up and set a code. #0234. I check all my connections which were fine and drove it some more. It's fine on all settings up to 5/5 but after that it does the farting thing. Am I running out of fuel??? That's the only thing I can think of.?.? What pusher pump kit should I get if this is the case?

Sounds like you are. Do you have gauges?

Not sure what the flatulence deal is? Have you pulled the air cleaner and inspected the turbo?

Code P0234 Turbocharger Overboost Condition.

Not sure bout the lost cylinder thing but the farting you're hearing may be turbo bark, mmmm turbo fart, if it's happening when you let off the throttle. Did you install the new boost hose that came with the TST, if not that turbo is building too much, TST intercepts all of the boost signal that the ecm needs to make the electronic control on the wastegate work.

It sounds like its not boost folling and its trying to defuel. I would look at the MAP sensor plug agin in detail. Some of the EDGE EZ's did this (I had one go bad on my dads truck). I checked it with the motor running and wiggled all the wires related to the map sensor and sure enough if its not getting good contact you will know it. It also sounds like a fuel supply problem. Does the sound your descibing sound like its coming out the tailpipe or by the motor?

The farting is not turbo bark, I know what that is. This isn't a turbo sound, it's all engine. It kind of sounds like a Jake Brake on a Big Rig...lol It's so bad I couldn't get it over level 2/2 last night with a 6k trailer. The only thing that might be wrong on my end is I haven't hooked up the thermocouple yet. I ran out of time and didn't get the manifold drilled, would the TST not work correctly without the thermocouple??? Also is there any way to clear codes? Can I unhook the batteries to clear them?

The sound is all out of the tailpipe. Also the TST remote is only showing 30psi boost, so I wouldn't think it's overboosting...

I just called TST and they said the PMCR is looking for the thermocouple and defueling. I'm going to install it today and see if this fixes it...

Angry

Well, I fully installed the thermocouple and the egt's actually aren't as bad as I thought they would be. MY PROBLEM IS STILL THERE!!!!!!!! ***??? I called TST back and they said it probably needs a pusher pump now. I think they don't know what the hell's wrong either!!!! First they said it was because of the Thermocouple, and now they say it's the lift pump not keeping up???? I ordered the Diesel Dynamics kit and will hopefully get it put on tonight. If this doesn't fix it the TST is going back to them... So far I'm not at all impressed with their customer service or the product...

Please keep us posted, because mine is due to be installed next week. I've had it for a month, but only recently decided to put it on because of all the talk about it being a "softer" program that is not as hard on things as the old.

If it turns out that you need to add a pusher pump or something, mine will go back as well. I'm not spending any more over the $850 beans I have in it already just so it will work right.

I just installed mine today and I'm VERY impressed. No codes, smooth as butter when your not standing on the loud pedal and plenty of power. After some testing and when I get a better feel for the box I'll be stacking the EZ back into the picture. Actually, I'm sorry I waited so long...

I think your problem is the pusher pump. I was not able to run higher than 4/4 on mine without running out of fuel. The stock pump was designed to work with the stock fuel requirements and a bit more. There is no way it can keep up with the amount of fuel you burn at the higher TST settings. I installed the FASS system on my truck and the problem you describe went away. I think you will be happy when you get more fuel to the motor.

The TST box is only hard on your truck if you want it to be!
