Input Needed For Next Round of Mods...
Hey all...
Trans Finally said no more this week and I am going to have the truck in the shop for a couple of weeks to fix it. So I just said why not make it an excuse to mod some other stuff.
I am buying an ATS Stage 6 Trans - Billet Flexplate, 5 Disc Converter, Billet Input, Billet Intermediate, and Billet Output shaft. Also Getting their converter controller. - This is a bit overkill for my project, but I figure I'll have room to upgrade.
I want to do a turbo and injectors at the same time as well as upgrade my TST to R49 w/ Timing and Pressure, and my Downloader. I will also be adding an MP8 for pressure.
I am thinking about the Hi-Tech Turbos HTB2/62 - 62/14 - Reason being that this turbo is upgradeable and that my truck is used fairly extensively for towing.
I wanted to do an II Silverbullet 62 but from what I hear that would be too extreme for any type of towing especially heavy towing. What do you guys think?
I also wanted to upgrade my injector nozzles at this point. I don't want to get into a brand war here so I'm leaving brands out of it, but they claim to make 110 HP.
So my big question is.. Who do I use for downloader? I've had BDDL w/ CL but have heard great things about the Smarty's.
Will I need to go ahead and throw an injection pump on the truck at this point? Or will there be sufficient fuel for all of this if the boxes aren't maxed out?
I appreciate any input you guys will provide.

I have experience with both the BD Triple Dog and Smarty. They both work as advertised. On my truck and my mods the Smarty gives me more options with the type of mods and purpose (towing, racing, etc.). The Smarty provided better power band range, little higher hp/tq and quicker ETs on the track. I settled on the Smarty. On my truck it is better, but based on all of the threads and trucks I have seen every truck reacts a little different and what is great on one may not be the same on a different truck with the same configuration. Just my experience.
Yes you need a lift pump and injection pump. As long as your buying ATS stuff, what about the Aurora 3000. I like it pretty well, but have never experienced a HTT or II to compare to. My dad has a HTT 62/12, but it's not on the truck yet and won't likely be until the weather warms up some.
Those injectors are going to be way to big for towing. Go with 50 - 70 hp range for heavy towing. The silver 62 is what I have, it works awesome for towing, allmost the perfect everyday turbo IMHO. It does it all, fast spool 55psi, and low egt's.
I have tried the bd on mine (mind you mine is an 03) and I wasnt overly impressed after I tried some other stuff. Im very pleased with how the edge tows. I havent tried towing with the predator yet, but I am sure it is going to work just awesome, I havent tried either the smarty or the tst yet. Dont think that I am going to try the tst, I will try the smarty. Barry from NADP has tried all of them, and lets say, he isnt a fan of the tst units. He usually runs the PPE, DR Performance stack on the trucks that he gets in the 11's. I wanted to try my own ideas, and so far I am very impressed with what I have running, I have designed my truck with the whole idea of towing first, racing second. I will post results after next weekends dyno run
