Input on 03 chips

I had a DS Predator and liked it but got fed up with the extremely touchy throttle on the high hp tunes. Now I have a TST PMCR R49 and it has several electrical gremlins that I doubt they can cure. Too bad - it drives like stock til I want the power and the control module is very small. Now I really like the chip idea after having a DLer! Turbo cooldown, change on the fly and built in gauges. I'm looking hard at the Edge/Attitude CTS or CS. I haven't read anything bad, yet. I've been wanting a B/U camera and the CTS will accept that plus it looks like an expansion module can be added for more sensors. Any opinions on the Edge or anything similar. TIA! Craig

TST with a Smarty is a good stack from what I hear, but it sounds like you don't want another programmer. I have a friend with Juice with Attitude on his 03 HO. I don't think he has the hot unlock, but I could be wrong. It's the only chip he's ever had, but he's happy with it and does everything he needs. Plus, he got it dirt cheap. He usually keeps it on the mileage setting.

Thanks! I still have the Predator but I"m afraid to stack it with the TST til I get the bugs out of the TST. Craig

My setup has worked well for me. The Smarty SR brings me up to HO level and I tow on SW1 which is a few extra HP.

It basically gives me a bit more power than the HO and lowers the EGTs significantly. I run it daily on SW1 and also while towing. Basically just load the tune to the ECM and forget about it. Took it off for CA smog check and 5mins after passing was back in business.

160K miles, 40+ towing heavy and running like a champ. Original clutch...holds on all grades, no problem.

Sorry to hi jack, but when you say a Smarty S06 basically turns an 03 SO into an 03 HO, what are estimated HP for the levels then?

I don't really want another DLer but smarty isn't totally out of the question yet! I love the change on the fly of the TST so I can see changes in the egt immediately. Craig

Smartys claims post very true numbers. SW#1 is a 30hp level and adds timing. Rear wheel hp will depend on the truck specs and other mods if any.

Ok thanks. I didn't know if the levels were a general rule of thumb or just based off HO numbers.

My understanding too. SO up to HO +30HP on SW1.

My experience. Had trouble towing my old 8,000lb 5er up 6% grades when stock.

Bought the Smarty SO6, made a few mods, and towed a buddies 14K 5er just to make sure I was OK with the 13.5K Montana before I bought it.

Tow's it fine although I don't win any races the way I downshift to keep EGTs below 1100/1150. Lots of towing in the Sierra's (30K miles+) and no problems.
