hi all,my dad has a 2003 6 spd 4x4,he tows a 5th wheel,8000lbs i think.i put in 130 hpxxx injectors in my 2nd generation truck and he drove it and loved it.what would you 3rd generation guys recomend?hes retired and holidays a lot and tows the 5er and would like a bit better milage to,are injectors or a chip his way to go?thanx guys

Depends on where he is towing, but if its anywhere near high altitude, I'd go for an adjustable box unless he wants a bigger turbo and exhaust. In the higher altitude, you can't turn injectors down. So you end up with extreme EGT's and nothing to do about it. We ran across this problem a while back. A guy had some bigger injectors and stock turbo w/ straight pipe. He could just barely make the high passes because of EGT's.

Not if they are EDM's! they will run cooler with more power

go with a box first
something that does timing and fueling is best (timing helps with egt's)

that most likely will be all he needs

then if you got loot go edm's for a little cooler egt's and more power to boot


if hes worried about detection from a dealer, I would stick to a plug in type box (not a downloader)
they have to dig a little deeper to find evidence of a box
the downloaders leave a time stamp

Im happy with my tst, from what Ive read, a ramifier would be my next choice.
